They've finished recording it apparently YES FUCKING YES YES YES YES YES YES
like the last one.
Wouldn't be surprised if they go the other way and decide to make it a very lush-sounding record as a reaction to that.
Really excellent songs marred only very slightly by weird muddy production. Still a fucking excellent album by almost any other band's standards, I reckon.
like Campfire Songs or Danse Manatee, if they were churning out projects like they were back in those days.
Given that they're on a three year album cycle now, it was a massive disappointment. Unfortunately, somewhat interesting, but ultimately failed experiments don't cut it.
Applesauce, Father Time, New Town Burnout, Monkey Riches, and Amanita take pride of place among their best work.
The pre-release single, Honeycomb, was also very good.
dunno how they managed/allowed somebody to drop a bollock so badly on centipede's production because the material was there for sure.
So he probably got a lot of slack.
Muddy and murky, yes. But for me, bad production means that the music is so compressed it's actually difficult or painful to listen to. Centipede Hz isn't like that. It's like a cosmic swamp, the sort of thing you can immerse yourself in.
I like albums that create their own world.
Although I haven't really liked anything from AC or Panda Bear since Merriweather or Tomboy (even Tomboy was a bit muck)
so much more going on than tomboy.
