how good this and pretty much everything Liz Harris has ever done is explains the monosyllabic nature of much of this thread
One of my most anticipated releases of 2015 as of right now.
This doesn't sound as good straight off the bat as the Valet, Shana Falana or No Joy albums (the latter is a real grower) that have been released recently, all of which have been great and very different. I'm a sucker for this kinda sound though so will probably investigate the album
nothing that a lot of other artists aren't doing already though.
Lots of reverb
it's alright. Parts of it were pretty good, but just kind of ended, the rest was unmemorable. The broken tape theme was a gimmick (especially since the album got less interesting when that idea was dropped). Definitely getting more attention based on its connection to Liz more than anything.
otherwise go for Black Tambourine and listen to a much better version of the same thing.
I really like this
I turned it up super loud and even on a first listen found it to be one of my albums of the year so far.
Was only a casual Grouper acquaintance before, but have started digging into her catalogue as a result.
but at the same time kind of liked it. its insubstantial but in a nice enough way. i wanted to like her stuff as grouper but never really got on with it, definitely prefer helen.
Not coincidentally while I was really sad. She's amazing
