and most of the crowd seemed to love it, but it just fell a little flat for me.
With Dan Deacon playing before him, and the already announced Octopus Project before him. That would make for quite a night.
I've seen Animal Collective perhaps more than any other band, but never Panda Bear solo. I understand it's just him, his machines, and his guitar, so I can appreciate how that might be underwhelming if you're not in the mood. But how were the visuals?
But like Spicer, I was also pretty underwhelmed. I think that's mostly down to the fact that I was in a terrible position in a little too-large a venue for one bloke standing alone on a large stage behind a deck.
I liked the video stuff, but I think I just wasn't in the right mood by the time he came on. Shamefully, I left after about 30 minutes.
And whilst I don't need my gigs to be ear bleeders, it was just a tad too quiet. Lots of people standing around me were talking to each other at pretty much normal speaking volume.
Wished they'd cranked it up a wee bit.
even though it's a man standing still and singing for an hour it was still somehow compelling
Sound was fairly good (and loud enough) where I was, whole venue was pretty packed so it was a little uncomfortable but the time flew by and I really enjoyed the new stuff live. Jib Kidder's visuals were... interesting.
