I'd go to club nights on insane systems and you could tell a mile off the DJs that used digi and the DJs that used vinyl. It was so much quieter, no bass in comparison too. I was never sure if it was just shit technology like old DJ software, shit soundcards in random DJs laptops, if the mp3s were mixed different to the records or what... Was it the lost stuff in the file, some sound engineer not giving laptop people a fair go... is this article shit a gimmick? No idea.
Good point in the write up about it being weird that mp3 is out of habit the default format despite bandwidth not being so precious anymore, I guess it's just hassle having multiple digital formats for players etc
Bandwidth might no longer be an issue but storage still is really
even more so now Apple are reducing the capacity of their ipods
