Sold on Dillinger, Rolo Tomassi, 65daysofstatic, Crows-an-Wra, We Never Learned To Live and Body Hound.
Will you get a load of that? Superb line-up thus far!
but Deafheaven being announced is pretty huge, right? What capacity venues do they play in their own right? Maybe ATG will be bigger this year (was it bigger than 3000 last year?).
Anyway, I'll probably go again.
so around 600 capacity? Sold out within a day iirc although tbf this was during the Jabberwocky fallout and they were performing with Chelsea Wolfe.
DiS warps my view of how big bands actually are sometimes ha.
Website says it's 5000 capacity overall now at ATG, still tiny. Loved it that first year.
Much more interesting and diverse lineup than last year. Have really enjoyed both editions of the festival so far, but was going to give it a miss this time. Might not now.
Are Deerhoof good? Not sure I've ever listened to them.
I'd not heard anything by them until I saw them at the Godspeed ATP, and after a weekend of (great) chinstrokey stuff, it was great to see something fun. Saw them again in Bristol the other week, such an incredibly tight live band.
Think Friend Opportunity would probably be a good album to start with, but they've loads of stuff
I thought they were excellent. Great to watch.
I was a bit worried that I'd essentially be watching the same bands I watch every year at different festivals\gigs but this looks intriguing.
Joan Of Arc, Vessels, maybeshewill all added.
Okay I'm going now.
plus Coheed doing In Keeping Secrets... Thrice playing, as well as a number of bands including DEP and now TFOT playing meant that we're going to Hevy festival. has anyone been to that before?
Line up does seem better these days though, wouldn't have thought they'd book The Get Up Kids. Anyway their website says TFOT are playing Doppleganger there. I hope they're doing the same at ATG.
she said it was really underwhelming (and that was the year before it was cancelled where the line up was shit hot)
said everyone there was really boring and it was just a tepid atmosphere.
it still looks good for the price, I'm tempted to go
Fall of Troy are doing Doppelganger in full
Surprised about that, as I don't think he's particularly Arctangent. However, he is really good.
i didn't even know this many instrumental math rock bands existed ffs
and there's loads of stuff I've never heard of that I'm assuming will be batshit mental or just full of riffs and that.
Small enough that you'll just end up drifting around and chatting to people anyway. In fact I have no idea if I'm going on my own or not yet, should probably find that out at some point.
New stuff sounding really good, plus they threw a few classic 'Size tunes in there too :D
and it was the same.
I'm well excited, heading down on Thursday afternoon.
Aiming to get there early enough on Thursday to see the first few bands.
Pretty excited though, a fair few bands I haven't seen before which is a bit of a surprise given they're on the third year now.
Alas might have to break with cow-onesie-silent-disco-funtimes tradition this year due to a dodgy leg and absence of normal main partner in crime.
Think we're getting down there early Thursday afternoon, I'd say say hi if you see me but I've realised likely none of us know what anyone else looks like.
Decent bunch of lads. Proper h̶a̶i̶r̶c̶u̶t̶s̶ riffs.
Will miss most of Thursday, but will be there for 65days. Really annoyed that Vennart and Blanck Mass clash.
More annoying is the Lone Wolf / Young Legionnaire clash as neither play very often, and it's the second to last ever LW show!
Still sort of hoping to get up to his Brudenell gig, but suspect I won't be able to, so gonna take the chance to see him while I can.
Unfortunately Vennart's November tour seems to be all midweek gigs nowhere near Bristol, so not much help sadly! Still think I'm leaning Blanck Mass way though.
We're putting on a warmup show in Oxford

Amazing weekend, but last night/this morning was the worst festival weather I've ever experienced.
Weather was a bit of a pain all weekend but this morning was intense. Had a great time anyway.
Admittedly I was sitting on a chair outside the tent because my legs were done so probably not in the best place to judge. Finished pretty early. Didn't seem to draw as a big a crowd as I expected but some sort of carry on earlier in the day meant they clashed with Cult of Luna which wasn't meant to happen and spread the crowd out a bit.
which is a shame because the rest of the band are really good. Went off to watch Cult Of Luna instead which was a very, very good decision.
Best bands of the weekend: CHON, Dillinger, AK/DK, Tangled Hair
Best new discoveries: 100 Onces, Body Hound
Worst bands: Black Peaks, Deerhoof (sorry, don't get it at all)
I thought Black Peaks were great at Hevy. But I also almost gave up on having ears after 10 minutes of CHON.
The lights and sound were absolutely perfect, properly great set.
that's where the good members of Rolo Tomassi ended up #opinion
Had a great time yet again despite it getting apocalyptic on Saturday.
Would really love to do this festival, but I'm past the age of camping in a tent at the mercy of the elements. But loads of great bands I would have liked to have seen in the 3 years they've run the festival. Location is also too remote for me to go back to Bristol to a hotel.
but last year when I went there was a farm onsite that offered their barns (complete with bunkbeds) to stay in.
Did the trick it was a bit like staying in a rustic hostel.
so much nope
Did anyone see them? My mate's band.
