Looks like RDJ is having a clearout! 61 tracks and counting. So many are really really good as well.
Try adding a zero to the number in the URL.
So the above 48736353001 would become 487363530001.
Apparently, it works. Source: P4K
Up to date as of last night.
Looks like there is more being uploaded today...
Can't believe something this significant is going on and only 6 people on here care. Enjoy seeing The National at Reading, bedwetters!
At worst, it's fascinating sketches from a great artist - at best, this stuff is stunning.
That version of Girl / Boy Song, damn.
Some/most of the stuff he's uploaded is just amazing, up there with anything that actually got released.
I can and have been arsed with it...
It's pretty interesting.
I'm not normally a gear head, but he makes it all sound fun. Some nice advice in there, too.
Someone will have a zip online right?
has links to rars
As in A+ relative to his entire career's worth of output. Can't be arsed listening or downloading? Fair enough. You're missing out...
with download link too!
"hello humans, hopefully im gunna start making all these tracks downloadable from 6pm next saturday 7th Feb, [if i can find some internets]"
Cannae be arsed with that.
85 tracks in - so much good stuff! Interesting that some of them are genre-tagged as Afx
Suggested album-length playlists. Because how often am I going to sit through all 7 hours that have been released so far? Will chip in once I've digested a bit more
for example he's tagged some of them as Ab6 etc and there are what look like track numbers. I'm hoping he might provide tracklists. that said, it'd be interesting to see what everyone else thinks works well. it'd take ages to sort properly though.
Aphex Twin fans are exactly the kind of nerds that are going to make a comprehensive catalogue of it.
So a jock like me can just sit back and reap the benefits.
I'm tagging them by my take on genre. Expect my first playlist of 'ambient techno' to come in the next few days
...helps makes more sense of the eras and styles of each track
been playing them so much over the past few days.
I loved Syro but reckon this might have more of a lasting impact.
Also saw some people somewhere moaning about this release mechanism and how they'd have preferred a physical/album/boxset style release. I love that RDJ has just dropped over 100 tunes (and counting) and basically left it as a project for people to work through them and 'manage' them.
he HATES organising albums and going through the hassle of releasing them. if this is the way we get to hear new Aphex Twin music, then I'm more than happy for him to do this. Imagine complaining about free, brilliant music.
is trying to keep up. :D
The standard is so high though. I downloaded all of them, stuck them in iTunes and then expected to skip past/delete all of the shit ones, but so far there hasn't been any. So good.
Figured he lived in the middle of nowhere for some reason.
he's claimed to live in the middle of nowhere in Scotland. He was interviewed in hotels he was staying at in London for media so that could be true.
He's lived in Stoke Newington and Elephant & Castle before. Mentioned that a lot in old interviews.
Was just wondering as there's tons of tracks with the name 'Clissold' in them!
A bank in Elephant and Castle. On Clissold Crescent in N16 at some point in the 90s hence the track names. Also claims to live in Scotland now but I'm inclined to believe he's now in Cornwall
I've even been over faced by this. Plus you know Aphex Twin, we've kind of been there done that by now, I'm just not as hyped for it as I would have been in the 90s so I'm in no rush really however good he is. Saying that he might stop the DLs at any point then I wont be able to put user48736353001 as my album of the year in December if it's ace.
Give it a week and someone will have chunked them all up with fan-made artwork etc.
It gets a bit hazy though, you get people uploading rips they recorded off soundcloud before they went up proper. You get some shitty picture no one needs. You get nerds putting their own tracks in the middle of it for a laugh. No one wants a zip file from an Aphex Twin fan they will have got it all sticky.
Still going strong with the uploads though!
soundcloud is silly like that.
and over 1.4gb of data!

Most of these are candidates for my 'Selected Ambient Quirks' playlist. I'm also really enjoying 14 make a baby - great sample which reminds me of the mashed potatoes in Children Talking. Possibly the same source?

The West Briton's headline in regards to Richard's grammy: http://www.westbriton.co.uk/Redruth-School-Cornwall-College-student-wins/story-25997506-detail/story.html
It's one thing listening to Aphex Twin in 2015 it's almost understandable but a DJ Food mix... nah.
Interspersed with some interview snippets with RDJ that I hadn't heard before.
Solid Steel do some good mixes now a days, it had a bit of a rough patch for I dunno loads of years when it was pretty much a DJ Food and bubbies show though.

Will queue this up this afternoon
'there are more, inc. versions of the tracks that were released on saw1, those will come out on a re-release one day hopefully, so saving those for that.'
Three new tunes so far, one of which is 20+ minutes long (!)
hope he'll share more noisy weirdness like this
Still not really had time to comb through it, bar listening to the odd playlist or mix (shout out to DJ Food!)
There might have been a few other versions of Drukqs tracks, so possibly a few were later.
He was always known to be restlessly productive in that period. Also, there's probably a considerable amount of post-Drukqs stuff he may yet consider releasing.
i've got 155 tracks downloaded. any idea where i'd find the rest to download? christ.
there must be another 50 or so such ones in the last 8 days.
good way of saying he's done uploading tbh (...if, indeed, he is)
was set up.... but that has also gone
A couple of links to Chris Cunningham videos are now up on https://soundcloud.com/user48736353001
And apparently over 200 songs be downloaded here:
some of these tracks, maaaan
The Mega download also includes the DJ Food mix, and Selected Ambient Works vol 1.5. That's 218 tracks plus the mix: EIGHTEEN HOURS of tunes.
Seems less 'glitchy' than I was expecting: more Warp techno styles like Autechre, or even housey tracks. Wasn't a big Aphex Twin fan before, but I though I'd abuse my office's fast connection and give it a go.
I'm about six hours in (currently up to Vocoder Disco, which is great). I listen to everything in my music folder at least once, so I'm gonna be working to this for a couple of days more at least.
I think I'd have to say The Best of the Aphex Twin Soundcloud Account
