New twitter account, and new photo's on their facebook page saying 'The super furry animals are rising...'
Though I have liked Gruff Rhys' solo stuff
The whole 'woods' thing....idk.
One of those bands I took for granted post-Rings for a bit then I binged on their last 4 records and realised that much of their latter day material was really good too.
Let there be a good reason for this.
He's been touring American Interior non stop for a solid year or so now. Jumping straight into SFA would be interesting.
with no explanation, and it's not to do with the recently published book.
Festival no.6 seem most likely, although the timing might suggest Latitude.
wouldn't be big enough to headline Latitude?
hope it's true none the less - here's a list of, i guess, all their gigs from 1995 to 2009 to add some nostalgia - http://link2wales.co.uk/2015/interviews/super-furry-animals-gigography/
I am hoping for a re-release of their LPs to be honest, they go for loads on Ebays at the moment.
(ive got em all)
not really selling them - listen to them occasionally. awlays brighten my day up
Mwng is pretty scarce as well I think. Some of the singles are pretty easy to get hold of.
cos their CD's are all like 99p
I assumed it would be Ride or Sleater-Kinney on the 6-music stage (or whatever it is this year) would be very excited if it was SFA. Foolishly, I always took them for granted and never saw them live.
I don't think they are big enough to headline TBH and they don't fit in with the rumours (Portishead/Alt J/ a returning headliner) but it is possible.
8th July - Scala, London (festival warm-up show)
17th July - Latitude Festival (not sure if headlining)
19th July - Benicassim, Spain
22nd July - Brudenell Social Club, Leeds
23rd July - Apollo, Manchester
24-25th July - Barrowlands, Glasgow
28th July - Rock City, Nottingham
29-30th July - Eventim Apollo, London
15th August - Cardiff Castle (special homecoming show, special guests TBC)
as much as anyone else. I'd love to see SFA live again.
They announced a new tour earlier today.
just album rerelease on vinyl or something
..despite loving every album before that
anyone fancy doing me a top 5 post-Rings tracks pls??

Very best or Neil Diamond
In no particular order.
The Very Best of Neil Diamond
Cardiff in the Sun
I'd throw Frequency and Into The Night into the mix too!
The very best of Neil Diamond, sex, war and robots, Cardiff in the sun
Fetching the Radiator inflatable from their Cardiff lockup by the looks of it...
When do these go on sale?!?!?
9am Feb 29 - usual outlets
Here's a top ten post-Rings tracklist:
The Piccolo Snare
Cardiff in the Sun
Show Your Hand
The Very Best of Neil Diamond
Venus & Serena
WHAT DOES IT ALL MEAN?!
but not all of them, unless they surprise us.
which claims that the listing on the Forum website used to only list the individual band members that were appearing, and that it was only recently changed to 'SFA with Rhys Ifans'. I live just down the road from the Forum so might actually take a punt on this tomorrow......
“waking the bear from hibernation”
‘#SFA2015’ is pretty self-explanatory
10am tomorrow morning so I'm reliably informed. Via walesonline.co.uk
Great Hall, Cardiff University - May 1 and May 2
O2 Academy, Glasgow - May 5
Albert Hall, Manchester - May 6
O2 Academy Brixton, London - May 8
Tickets go on sale Thursday, March 5 at 9am.
I live in Bristol, but I'm in Scotland when the Cardiff dates happen. Then I'm in Cardiff when the London date happens.
Seriously contemplating some time off work to go up to Manchester - my brother lives there.
£35.00 plus fees
If true that's placing this deep within fuck that territory.
so the inflation on it's actually not as bad as it often is these days. Gigs are generally expensive now :(
if that helps
what? the manchester one was delightful and the film is amazing
can they post it here?
http://www.gigsandtours.com/tour/super-furry-animals/?pre=sfapre&src=superfurryanimalspresale password MWNG
just got mine for Manchester - very happy
If the queue goes down soon, that is...
Brixton booked. Good work Dr Mint.
I can tell you all about how I keep bumping into our crazy former colleague....
I've got 1 standing ticket for Friday I want to swap for the Saturday.
some were called sold out before.
Nice little documentry on the band that just aired on S4C in Wales. It's in Welsh but subtitled.....
Even more excited now for the Gloucester gig on Tuesday. It probably won't be the full stage set they're using for the tour itself (which apparently will be a bit flash) but still... first SFA gig in six years and I'm going to it. Woohoo!
would've missed otherwise. watched with my mum and she thinks dire straits are as varied as the furries.
because of a stupid credit card error message. Anybody need?
That was incredible. Minor spoilers: played for nearly two and a half hours, started with Rings Around The World, Do Or Die and God! Show Me Magic...
...best gig I've seen in a very long time.
...because it's ace?
never been a fan of that track
Interesting to see there's nothing on there off the last 2 records.
and was just as surprised that they played something off Love Kraft. Wouldn't have minded one each off the last two... and I think Hey Venus! is massively underrated.
was their only slight misstep- incredible for such a long running group. Hey Venus is great but the only "greatest hit" missing from that comeback show is Herman loves Pauline imo
bit of a lull in the middle with the Welsh tracks that I've never given enough time too. Juxtaposed and Play It Cool were obvious omissions along with Hermann. Once they loosened up and actually talked to the crowd they were pretty faultless, Ice Hockey Hair onwards was amazing. Didn't sell my two spare tickets, Gloucester is an odd place.
I'm not able to go now - have two tickets for it, happy to sell both for £60.
Am about all week in London until Thusday if anyone wants to buy...
bit cheeky to say they'd be doing different songs in nme interview, only 2 songs were different. still really good and can't argue with 25 songs a night.
He's still going himself, and will be in the area of the venue from around 7pm. Face value, obviously. PM me if you want them and I'll put you in touch.
I've put a book out about the Super Furries?
*manoeuvres sneakily towards the exit*
Really enjoyed it.Good to see Kiko getting a mention
I know its Creation era focus has polarised opinion somewhat, but always really chuffed when someone says they enjoyed it.
I'm publishing all the Mwng interviews tomorrow on DiS, so that should be insightful for Furry fans hopefully.
Really great book. Was at the Rough Trade event too. Going to both Brixton dates.
Really glad you enjoyed it, thanks!
You're gonna have an ace time at brixton - I went to Cardiff and you'd never think they'd taken a six year break. There's a shit-hot energy there... the Mwng section sounds really soulful... plus Arnofio/Glo In The Dark is mentally good live. Have a good 1!
Last chance, I'm off Friday morning, so happy to sell two tickets for £60 if anyone wants pm me.
