The people have spoken – there was an impressive 153 voters, who voted for over 300 different albums. And there was a remarkable 88 different favourite albums of 2014.

But there was a clear winner - Sun Kil Moon’s ‘Benji’. I wonder if winning the prestigious DIS readers poll will help Mark Kozelek cheer up?

Some small print:

I sliced the data in three different ways:

- giving more weight to more favoured albums (5 points to 1st place, 4 points to 2nd place etc);
- ranking them according to how many times they appeared in lists, regardless of position; and
- the number of times they appeared as someone’s number one album.

It made no difference, Benji took all three awards. And Cloud Nothings/War On Drugs were in 2nd or 3rd place using all three methods.
