When will this come out then? It's five years late. Five. Years.
I was flicking through the booklets of the other deluxe Pavement albums cos they are rad and the only one I don't have is Terror Twilight :(
Deserves the treatment though i think a lot of the oddities from that era are actually on the BTC deluxe.
It looks like Matador intended to release it
Terror Twilight DELUXE - OLE-927 - 2011-11-08
But they probably just forgot. These things happen.
Been buying these in order as a late convert and it's getting to be about time I check out TT. Sure Someone here said that it was happening. Am I right in thinking that this wasn't the happiest recording experience o.a.t. though?
but terror twilight is great (i probably prefer it to brighten the corners.... maybe) and i think its unlikely we see this reissued so you should totally go and buy it.
i sometimes wonder what TT might have turned out like had the band been in a happier place at the time and just run with it. listen to the ....and then (the hexx) recording on the BTC reissue in comparison to the album cut. strange to think what songs like cream of gold and spit on a stranger might have sounded like had they been written say during the wowee zowee era.
I discovered Pavement in 2009, after all the other deluxe editions had come out - quickly snapped them all up but waited YEARS to even listen to Terror Twilight because I was waiting for that to get reissued as well. More fool me. Well, maybe not because it's definitely the worst Pavement album. Would be nice to see if they have any late-period gems in the vaults though.
CRCR > S&E > WZ > BTC >>> TT
Worth noting that some of my favourite Pavement songs are on Brighten the Corners, and that all of the first four are 5 star albums in my mind.
BTC > CRCRCR > S&E > WZ > TT
Still in a way, mainly because of Major Leagues, Spit on a Stranger and Carrot Rope.
Used to think Wowee Zowee was the best too.
Remember my mate giving me a fiver to buy Brighten the Corners for him off amazon because he didn't have a debit card, his mum wouldn't buy it for him and he wanted it really bad after I showed him the Stereo video on Youtube. They are now his favourite band, we were 16 I think.
i have so many inane music related stories that aren't stories it's unreal
Ranging from a 10.0 to a 9.4
I understand the majority of fans see it as their weakest, but it has some brilliant moments on as mentioned like Major Leagues, Spit on a Stranger, Carrot Rope. I love Cream of Gold and the Hexx as well.
Don’t know if it will ever get a reissue though, as five years is a long wait, and perhaps there just wasn’t as mach material then compared to all the previous reissues. Plus they were pretty much broken up at that point, making TT sound a bit like a Stephen Malkmus solo album.
Ranking wise, Slanted & Enchanted is still my favourite of theirs, the rest I love pretty much equally after it.
I bought all their albums just a year or so before they started reissuing them all, which was a bit annoying!
The reissues are lovely. Bought them off the back if quarantine the past.
Has there been a best 'best of' thread? That's a sure contender, the lackadaisical tracklisting lends it a lot of charm and tells you so much about the band.
BUT maybe you would like to listen to this Silkworm cover of ...and then until it is released. It is very nice
has said it isn't happening as not enough other material around from that era to make it worthwhile.
Is a great record though, an essential part of the Pavement story, and as far as I know, Pavement fans (and I hang out with far too many of them) all love it.
BtC is actually the more maligned record, not because some of the songs aren't great, but because It's their only album that doesn't really hang together as a thing, and some of it sounds a bit forced. Still fantastic though of course.
(for context, they are my all time favourite band)
Brighten the Corners is a beautiful, breezy concise work of genius so nurr
Great to finally see the love for TT on here... Always seems to get panned. I keep returning to it and it's still strong, psychedelic, dark and gorgeous. It also contains some of the greatest fuzz/clean guitar tones ever recorded.
For my money -
WZ > BTC > TT > S&E > CC,CC
Although Crooked Rain has the hits, it's got a couple of fillers in there that i can never be arsed with. Wowee Zowee is a glorious mess. There's so many great songs but most are hidden, under-developed and a little too off-the-cuff. I absolutely fucking adore it. Again, it's sonically incredible too.
I don't think i'll ever get over Pavement.
a 10, three 9s and an 8.
and i do it every week on here.
S&E > WZ > CRCR > TT >BTC
at my Pavement cd's that terror twilight jewel case becomes an eye sore next to the other deluxe editions. Weird they would do every other album and not that on.
i still need to get the S&E one, so the middle three are bookended by jewel cases
Just searched for Terror Twilight reissue in the vain hope that something might be happening. This thread was the first result.
was hoping all this recent FB activity might be a sign that something was happening on that front
