TNP expanded live album
Why does it seem like the only one talking about the live album are TNP themselves?
Had two listens and it's pretty good; still not sure if I was waiting for a live recording of FoR. The FoR part is really good; the only thing that bugs me is that the drumming on fragment two and The light in your name is way too fast; certainly in fragment two the songs speeds up a lot when the drums enter (in we want war the drums are also pushing the tempo but it is not as annoying there). The last three songs are amongst the strongest, the new song sounds intriguing.
i cant even be bothered to figure out who
TNP are. let alone listen to a crapping live album by them.
This has happened to me so many times on this forum
(Although this is one of the ones I do know)
By the way, is the worst artwork thread still going?

Unforgivable fontage
I like it!
It fits with their whole shtick, I think
went to t he gig
didnt know there was a live album
might listen to it if the mood takes me
I went to the gig
Not sure if Fields of Reeds needed to ever have such a grand set up. Seems like quite an understated record that feels a bit wasted having 40-50 odd people on stage. Did enjoy it though.
New song was very nice. Was hoping for more than one new song.
Just listened to it
Seems pretty pointless to have any audio recording of this, it's too similar to the standard album to be worth listening to again. If it had been a video then I'd probably have bought it.
It was a very good gig though.
There is a video (but only about 20 minutes or so)
it's somewhere on pitchfork
Pitchfork´s Ian Cohen feels the same way

he stole my intro dammit

True- the bastard!!
I'd definitely have bought a DVD
though, weirdly, I've not watched the Pitchfork video. I think partly cause I need to give that album a break right now: since it was released, I've just been coming back to it on a pretty regular basis, bouncing between that and Hidden. They're a great band when I'm in sync with them, if that makes sense.
Incidentally, I just listened to the non-album track - 'Spitting Stars'. That and the other unreleased song (the one from the Zane Lowe set), I really like. Can see why they were left off the album though, as they're very *slightly* different to the Field of Reeds tone in a way.
Anyone know anything about this other non-FoR track that was played at the live show? It's mentioned in the Quietus (http://thequietus.com/articles/16547-these-new-puritans-interview), but they seem deliberately secretive about it and unwilling to go into any detail about it whatsoever.
Just ordered this
surprised no one is talking about it either. Probably our greatest band and most sites (especially American sites) continue to overlook them. I would think a live interpretation of Field of Reeds would be amazing especially with the orchestra but everyone seems to be saying they just re-recreate the album to a tee. I saw them live here in California and despite playing to a nothing crowd it was easily in my top 10 shows I've seen ever. The Hidden stuff sounded incredible and new song Spitting Stars is as good as anything on Field of Reeds.
just because a live experience is great doesn't mean it will sound great in an audio-only experience.
otherwise TNP sounds like a poorman's Talk Talk or Bark Psychosis with really bad vocals.
