Jamie T - Kings & Queens
In light of a return from Jamie T i went back and checked out this record which i hadn't listened to in fucking ages. Forgot how fucking good it is.
Both nights at the barrowlands appear to be sold out, fuck!
Any Jamie T fans on here, whats the new record like?
I love this album
think it's his best... shame he has the NME 2007 cannon-fodder attached to him but thankfully he seems to have a very loyal following.
Also the new record is really good
a lil slower but some lovely songs on there, got a fair share of forgettable tunes, but on the whole I like it.
Not listened to Kings & Queens in a couple of years
but it's fucking great, might stick it back on the ipod.
I dunno
It's not really clicked with me yet, I've listened a few times. Still going to see him in Mcr tho, the first two albums are solid gold
You'll all be delighted to hear that I got tickets
For the barrowlands! Well chuffed.
Looking forward to checking out the new record!:)
He's great.
A lot of it is a nostalgic thing as I grew up pretty much obsessed with him (I remember having 'if you got the money' on my MySpace and I thought I was cool as fuck (I wasnt)) but yeah Kings and Queens is a genuinely excellent album. Saw him at Brixton just after it came out and it was a memorable gig, so much energy.
Not heard his new one yet.
Newun's a treat
Much moodier and more like his 'heartbreak' album than anything I've heard from him.
It was apparently a difficult album to make, and you can hear that struggle in the music where before he felt so natural. I think he breaks through that, though - his songwriting has taken another step forward, and he's really worked to make the thing sound cohesive. I think it's a great front-to-back listen.
Still growing on me - not as slackjawed, drawling, knockabout as before but tonnes of fun, and great to see him develop. He mastered his old sound on K&Q, and this is him edging towards a new direction. Think I said this before, but now he's gone through those growing pains - hopefully we'll hear from him more often. 8-9/10.
good stuff, canny wait to give it a proper listen
Nothing beats Panic Prevention
So much more raw then his other stuff. It often sounds like messed up drunk man mumbling at the back of the pub. Strong melancholic lyrics at points as well. Sheila comes to mind. I also liked Kings & Queens but it did less for me. I wish he made an album that sounded like the Fire Fire single he released between his first two albums.
not listened to panic prevention in ages either
need to go back and check it out
