Can't find it anywhere
and it is true
Listened to it last night. Streaming somewhere or other. More dancy than than Swim. More poppy then Daphni. Ie pretty damn perfect.
Really annoyed I missed out on tickets to the Koko show though - going to have to wait until next year to hear it live now!
Loved Can't Do Without You, particularly the extended mix, but was expecting the album to have more left turns.
It's derivative*, over simplistic and pretty dull in places. Not exactly bad, but lacking any real innovation, and ultimately, the weakest record of his career. The Daphni stuff, including the remix of Our Love, suggests that moniker gives him the freedom to produce more interesting music now.
*See Our Love, which is basically a mix of Inner City's Big Fun and Good Life
I don't dislike any of it, but it all seems so underwhelming considering how 'Can't Do Without You' had raised expectations earlier this year.
the only time he really moulds an original sound, for me, is on Up in Flames. Everything else is essentially taking other styles and adding a certain... Caribou-ness to it. Not least his drums.
All that is absent from this, apart from his voice. It's oddly indistinguishable as him and just leaves us with a decentish tech house record.
This sums it up it nicely for me
Suits me just fine.
Except on Up in Flames, he's never been particularly original. But he does have characteristic flourishes that differentiate his work from others. On Our Love, they're not really present.
This guy hasn't really done his research. In the past, the nerdy methodological approach was a real draw to Snaith's work (for like-minded fans). In interviews leading up to Our Love, he admitted the wider appeal of Swim to kids who weren't music geeks and balconies in Ibiza has made him change his approach to this album. For me, he's neither doing anything particularly original, doing it better, or with a fresh approach on this record.
When he leaned towards house and techno on Swim, it was far more interesting than this. He said that he was surprised that what he considered a "weird" record had such wide appeal. Well now he's excluded the people who liked that weirdness by creating one that's very ordinary.
I'll create another one
but it seems it is only streaming through iTunes Radio, which lives in some fucked up dark age where you have to install iTunes on your computer rather than, you know, running in a web plugin like any normal system.
Fuck you, Caribou. Fuck you.
Yeah I did check Spotify first.
I hope to god that's some ancient re-release you've found...
Was hoping for a Flea/Snaith collab so was a bit disapointed.
is a masterpiece
and back home is good but apart from that there isn't much there and the song with the female singer is really quite bad
have all leaked recently and they're all AOTY contenders. Got no time for this.
No? Me neither...
In fact it's so blatant I can only assume it's deliberate.
this is fuckin great!!
anyone else sing along dogshit to the deep autotune bit at the end of Our Love?
to go to the KOKO gig tomorrow, so if anyone has a pair of spare tickets, please let me know..
