It's a sad, sad day for riffs :'''(
Never saw either of them.
The world is a terrible place.
At least Adebisi Shank put out an absurdly great album as a parting gift
So glad I saw them live last week. Was saying the other day I want (-_-) played at either my wedding or funeral - can't decide which - it's just such a nice little upbeat track, something so perfect about it.
Really become one of my favourite bands over the last few years, seem to put on This Is The Second Album... more frequently than any other record.
How come I haven't heard of these guys? "-
Is this representative of them as a whole and would it be sensible to pick up the 2nd album if I like this?
They're usually really full-on mathy rock stuff. However I think they're always able to retain the kind of intricacy that's evident in (-_-) in even the most balls-out songs which is why I love them so much ha.
You'd probably like this song too - for a relentlessly upbeat band this is possibly them at their most upbeat:
I'll check this out at lunch. No issues with math rock madness here I had wondered at the mention of riffs earlier. I'll dig a little deeper into some of this I think...
Proper gutted about Adebisi splitting, incredible, original and fascinating band to listen to. Their third album is utter magic.
Good luck to them though - I hope to actually hear some actual All Tvvins stuff (looks like they took it off soundcloud) and Speed of Snakes sound promising, although I hope it means BATS aren't going to go the same way.
You Slut! were top as well, Medium Bastard is quality.
just found out this week that LaFaro have also called it a day :(
One of the best gigs I've ever been to was BATS, Adebisi Shank and Down I Go in the cellar of a pub called Cross Kings. First time seeing Adebisi and BATS so you can imagine. Jaw was on the floor through all of it.
What? Lame. La Faro are great dudes. Shame. :(
I'm in a rotten mood now.
and mentioned that they'd 'dissolved'. i'd heard a rumour a month or two ago as well that they might have finished.
definitely saw them live more times than any other band. their first album launch in the Menagerie is one of the best gigs i've ever been to. :(
but on the basis of the name they deserve to be no longer
and have a shit name, so i'll have to take your word on that
Can't wait for tomorrow night, it's going to be sad but amazing.
I still can't believe how exhilarating this is - the utter triumph on it is staggering.
Only bought my ticket today right enough. i haven't seen them since before Shank 2
managed to see them on the NEW TUNEZ tour 2 years ago in the Bunatee
also you're in that video (Y)
there are a lot of people that look like me there so it's hard
I'm only familiar with the second album.
I cannot stress how much you need to listen to the third album: http://adebisishank.bandcamp.com/album/this-is-the-third-album-of-a-band-called-adebisi-shank
I'll try their box office tomorrow
They're such an amazing live band, even if you're not familiar with all the material. And yeah give the third album a listen.
their second was one of the most original albums ive ever heard (and really really great/fun)
Currently writing up a review, wish I was going tonight as well.
Setlist (SPOILERZ for anyone going tonight):
Voodoo Vision is such a good set closer. I thought World In Harmony was way better live too.
and played a bit of (-_-) during the encore but yeah same setlist. The way Mini Rockers kept going on and on was wonderful.
Really enjoyed Adultrock's set on Thursday
I mistook someone for you before and I thought you were that same guy. I am useless. Great gig though.
but couldn't see you once it filled up.
