"Hopefully it doesn't sound like a bunch of 50 year old men... which we are!"
where a lost me watched them with a lost alcxxk
that actually said "im never lost if im with you" with lots of hearts around it
Well, it doesn't really.
not a lot to it, really
It just wasn't particularly bad.
is a band that should be welcomed back with open arms (of the mountain).
this song sounds like a bad b-side rather than a return to form. it didn`t sound good at hyde park and it doesn`t sound good here. fingers crossed tightly for the album.
....like this a lot.
Probably as good as anything on king for a day rather than angledust but i`m just glad its good.
been rinsing album of the year this week
looking forward to it (with some trepidation)
is album of the year good then? never heard it
new album is good, some amazing, some shit - like sunny side up, that can fuck off
has some of my favourite stuff on it. couple of shit tracks but that's par for the course
I got into faith no more in reverse order so its the first album of there's that i heard. Ashes to ashes, strip-search and last cup of sorrow are great tracks up there with fnms best tracks.
Just listened to the new album. really good apart from motherf*cker which i dont like.
just listening to the stream of their new album for the first time. I think it sounds pretty good. a lot of the tracks seem deeper with a lot of tension but for a first listen i`ll def be buying this record
yeah it's a deffo purchase, superhero is killer
IINNNNDESICION CLOUDS MAHHH VISIONNNNN
Every subsequent album they did was better.
oh yeah, dated production and silly funky bass sound but the songs themselves are pretty strong
The Real Thing is easily my favourite album of theirs
TRT does have slightly dated production but the worst thing about it is Patton's nasal voice from the early years. If he had recorded it with the voice he went for on AD 3 years later it would have been miles better, its got a lot of good songs on it still. Even introduce yourself has loads of decent tracks, just chuck moselys voice destroys it.
why on earth did Patton go for that bizarre voice in the first place? you'd be forgiven for thinking Angel Dust is a different singer
I think that voice actually fits the songs on The Real Thing, but that merely highlights my problem with the album. It is not just the production which is dated - that the funk/rap metal style evident in some of the songs served as the forerunner for numerous uninspired nu-metal bands is telling.
he was also the new kid in town, coming into an already established band from a band like mr bungle, probably not being accepted by a lot of their existing fans, trying too hard
seems a bit weak tbh
gonna give it another go now, hoping it's a grower as all i can remember is superhero and motherfucker in my head
Might give it a listen later. Might have been 17 years too late, but I absolutely rinsed Angel Dust when I was 16.
that 1-2 of motherfucker and black friday kinda sucks though
matador, seperation anxiety and superhero are all good
...you're all listening to a different album to me. This is bloody ace.
The piano bits on Superhero make me feel 18 again.
yeah it is very good, Sunny Side Up is the only stinker for me but even that's growing.
Not a patch on their prime stuff obvs but good nonetheless. Sounds a bit like they're finding their feet again - there's another record in the works already apparently, I'm excited to see what they can pull off now they're seemingly back in the swing of things.
to their already embarrasing riches:
Superhero, Separation Anxiety, Motherfucker and Matador
Motherfucker didn't work so well taken out of context with the album but it's really, really grown on me and I quite liked it in the first place. Lots has already been said about Superhero but right now I think Separation Anxiety is the killer track; FNM at their most muscular.
Hugely enjoyable. For me its their best album since 'Angel Dust. First half of the album is excellent with a couple of not so great tracks toward the end (black Friday, From the dead). they've understandably played it a little safe by their standards but I'm hopefully they'll show a bit more ambition on the next one.
