quite frankly that line-up should be illegal. I don't know what a 24 Hour Drone Fest is, but I want to find out.
and only 70 big ones too.
so something like this looks like a good option! Also want to see this 24 hour drone fest.
Are you guaranteed entry into the venues with a pass, or do you have to queue up or bag a spot like the Camden Crawl/Great Escape?
which doesnt bode well for actually seeing stuff does it
will ask friends. Can I afford this AND Unsound?
so certain venues do fill up to capacity and you may have to turn up early if you're keen to see a specific band. Also, the venues are spread throughout the city, with some a good 30 mins walk away. Unsurprisingly, the Dutch use their bicycles to travel between venues.
That said, the centre of Utrecht is pretty, like a miniature version of Amsterdam, including canals, cobbled streets and a huge clocktower.
I would happily spend 90 euros on that line-up, some artists there I've wanted to see for a very long time. I don't think I'll make it though.
Seriously considering one of those cheaper tickets.
That lineup made my eyes boggle.
Definitely going to try and find some people to go to this with.
Under the section about where to stay, there's this icing on the cake too: "It’s also important to note that LGW takes place the same weekend as the 42nd annual Mega Record & CD Fair."
Have it on good info that dates will be confirmed soon
SP has such great line-ups every year.
it'll show them you yield to no-one
Website blocked for being sexually explicit.
('leg' in the url? All dutch sites are probably porn? Who comes up with these filters?)
but I'm tempted to sack it off and go here instead
I stayed in a hostel in a forest near Amersfoort and it was well cool. Only had a chance to pop into Utrecht and I just remember loads of happy looking people riding bikes.
Utrecht is nice and easy to get to but be warned - some of the venues are a real fucking walk apart from each other. A lot more than the Crawl. I missed so much last time (especially if you're staying put in a venue for a certain band) that it would put me off going again.
some venues are indeed far apart. Renting a bike is the best best way to get around that though. It's pretty cheap to as well. Just don't lock your bike up right in front of the venue, otherwise you'll find yourself with 3-4 bikes attached to it afterwards.
I think that Dronefest thing will be on the Sunday.
And anyone who doesn't is a loser.
I got tickets too, can't wait. Staying in a converted medieval wharfcellar.
that consists of 5 star reviews and calls it the best hostel in the world, by someone who has only ever contributed one review. Good work on subtlety there, folks.
if I could get there I'd be all over that. Michael Gira knows what is up.
Dorian Concept Trio,
The Fresh & Onlys,
Jozef van Wissem,
Jameszoo (live) & Special Guests,
Wildbirds & Peacedrums,
She Keeps Bees,
I stayed in Utrecht for 5 months when I was at University. Was brilliant. Only about half an hour on the train from Amsterdam if you're flying over.
Excited for these
Also just read that Prurient is playing. Can't wait.
Having said that I am seeing Pere Ubu and Henry Cow that weekend so can't complain too much
I'm dealing with a few heartbreaking clashes, namely Ought and Okkyung Lee & Suuns and William Basinski.
only big deal for me is xiu xiu and neubauten, but neubauten was really just a curiosity and xiu xiu's on a great line up. pretty happy just picking one venue a night, thanks to it being well curated
what we all looking forward to?
anyone know the best way to get from amsterdam airport to utrecht? do i need to get into the centre of amsterdam and back out? how much does the train cost?
DiS meet up to schmok the wwed and bang some sex workers whilst ranking weezer albums?
