that aren't the obvious ones?
I'm starting to think America>>>>>>UK.
ever, or currently ?
California X, Diarrhea Planet, Herzog, etc.
Although the lead singer is from Tennessee, but they're London-based so it's all good.
Anyway, amazing band.
In terms of stone cold classics, don't we have them beat? Stuff like The Beatles, The Stones, Led Zep, etc. I mean, I know Clapton's a fucking racist wanker but his songs still count.
Then there's the likes of Joy Division and Duran Duran, yeah?
On top of that we have Blur and Radiohead and even The Verve and Oasis, depending on how dully mainstream you want to go. And mclusky, obviously.
If you allow bands like Death Pedals, This Ain't Vegas and Mayors of Miyazaki then we're actually doing really well. Those are bands that in the States could be much bigger simply due to the fan base options.
On the other hand, they do have Fugazi, Hot Snakes and Nirvana, so maybe...
I mean, just watch this 10 minute MONSTER: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LpOv3ff28L0
It has *everything*. It's arguably the most intense, and incredible, live performance you'll ever see. The indifference of the studio audience just makes it so much better.
although cumulatively I'd put Swedish/German/French bands above both at the moment.
Brontide, Years of Rice and Salt, Phantom Band, and for old times sake a bit of Mogwai or Wedding Present are about all I listen to UK guitar wise, Ireland probably does better with me because of the former Richter collective bands.
So we win.
