this could end up sounding radically different to her other albums, very excited regardless.
although I've always wondered how she gets 'that' sound and whether it's something that comes through the mastering/production process or through pedals/fx etc.
Since she seems to have largely abandoned the latter for this record I'm curious as to what effect it will have on her music.
i'd say it's the fuzz and feedback of pedals mostly, though i read that she recorded A I A in a massive space with a natural reverb
Seen her pedals before, just a boss delay holy grail reverb and a loopstation, possibly an od. Guess it sounds different as it is drones built from vocals going through the fx not guitars (well guitars as well)
plus the feedback that comes with a mic and fx
Just listened to first couple of tracks of Dead Deer on Youtube which are great..
the A I A double album for me is her best and mixes the songs with the more ambient stuff
I'll go for the A I A as I like my SOTL/Eluvium...
I've been listening to Ekin Fill a fair bit lately, nice album last year and released a couple of things back in May, she shares a very similar musical landscape to grouper, Might be worth checking out.
