not terribly surprising, but still ruddy amusing.
reckon they found out he is not a vegan because he likes fanta too much and thought fuck this guy
then another revival in 10 or so years, and then he'll die in a stampede of cows
Surely no-one signs Morrissey fully expecting to actually get on with him.
In my opinion he wasn't terribly well-served by them.
All the batshit stuff he's been talking for the last few weeks is the best promotion the record's had.
'Jamie Oliver should be gassed by Princess Anne.' :D
when did he say that?
i do enjoy Moz drama but there were a few things from this last tour which did seem to cross the line.
"If Jamie ‘Orrible is so certain that flesh-food is tasty then why doesn’t he stick one of his children in a microwave?"
mostly they're pretty asinine, but there was some quote unsavoury stuff between him and that kirsten what'shername about her leaving the tour and the security guard and that, all seemed quite petty and a bit nasty.
as someone very new to Morrisey, I quite like his music.
But his persona is wonderful: I really don't get why people seem to get riled by him and the Kanye's of this world. If I were famous, I'd have so much fun acting like a ludicrous super-villain. I love it.
He's a pop star, it's his job to say stupid things. He's not a politician or a businessman.
being as hilariously entertaining as God-Complex ridden rapper Kanye West.
They seem quite self-aware and good-humoured most of the time, but get them talking more than ten minutes and it all gets a bit dodgy and dark
into a tub of lard
i want him to just snap and start killing people whilst eating cocktail sausages by the handful.
did they throw hamburgers at him as he walked out the door?
For someone who is meant to be a wit he does come out with some lame puns.
'Scotland should leave the united King-Dumb'
completely different people, personas and messages
kanye wants everyone to love themselves as much as he has learned to love himself through going through loss and feeling like he's not perfect so he told himself he was and then accepted it
he's a global icon for speaking out against inequalities (homophobia, racism, classism) and how he and others have been systematically set back - people laugh at him but they don't listen to him. he is enlightened.
morrissey just likes being a vegetarian and trolling
one of the greatest tastemakers of this millenium
I note you didn't mention sexism though - a correct omission.
he actually is. listen to him for once instead of talking the piss out of a black man for loving himself. you're all a bunch of jimmy kimmels.
morrissey doesn't rate women much either, iirc
moz's said loads of weird misogynistic things
definitely said lots of racist ones too
if you're a black man that loves himself?
As an aside, i'm not making any comparison with Morrissey here.
nor am i ever wanting to argue on an online forum with someone who gets his kicks from doing just that
that is a completely different subject, and it's arguably possible to analyse separate his message, his persona and his front, the imagery he collaborates on and his lyrics and find arguments for and against misogyny
you can not deny he empowers people.
p.s. why are you obsessed with disapproving black people so much
I'm a massive Moz fan but haven't really liked an album of his since Tormentors and live his band are just really trudgingly band, and he's got too much of a paunch. Singers should never be allowed to get portly.
But I'm afraid his ending his musical career might lead to more books (oh no)
Both of the albums released since ...Tormentors are better than it - I'd say he's been getting steadily better since You Are The Quarry (which was a bit overrated at the time) He's on good form of late.
I don't know about 'better' but they're just not for me.
Particularly his newest record, boring flabby winded instrumentals, clumsy spanish stuff, his vocals are like bad crooning at times for me and basically about how much he agrees with his good friend Russell Brand. Sort of lazy obnoxious lyrics about the bullfighter and stuff.
I think it's a good time to end it.
doesn't stop it being true
quite like some of his tracks, but i still think he's a cunt and don't particularly view him as a standout artist in his field. nothing he says interests me at all, whereas Morrissey, though he's long forgotten how to time his opinions, has at various points said a lot of things which make sense.
plural (bar the one with Jay-Z, obviously).
they'll start to believe it. In this case that he's some kind of messiah figure. He's a good producer but he's really got nothing to say, all of his best hooks are borrowed (as opposed to how other great hip-hop will take a sample but not rely on it for the hook) and he didn't do anything genuinely subversive until Yeezus. If we're comparing him to Morrissey, he was a unique recording artist from the outset and far more important within his genre.
if you were boring prick
because you got upset i made fun of you in that thread
if you went round their gaff and pissed on their shower curtains.
I saw someone, somewhere else on the internet (possibly here) putting that point forward, and I thought it was quite interesting.
His solo material is good, there are certainly a lot of tracks which are easily as good as anything The Smiths ever did.
The reason that people don't like him is mainly because of his demeanour and opinions, some of which (ie immigration stuff) is inexcusable, but most of which is clearly related to his often quite poor mental health (which is only going to get more empathy and be understood better in the future), and his hardline stance on animal rights, which again will be seen as increasingly more 'acceptable' as time goes on (more people are turning vegetarian and vegan than ever before, animal rights are improving in the west year on year etc- Morrissey addresses these issues in the most confrontational and unhelpful way possible, but the fact is that attitudes and law regarding animal rights are progressing quite quickly in the west and are very unlikely to ever reverse).
It's not like Morrissey 'did a Weezer'- a lot of people think that Viva Hate is undoubtedly his best but I personally think that his solo output has been consistently good (although Vauxhall and I is the only solo album I really love). He definitely would've been seen in a different light if he had died just after Viva Hate, but we also would've missed out on quite a few great songs, and I'm quite glad we now have a more 'human' Morrissey, even if he is fucking annoying sometimes.
how many labels has this fool had? is this how he keeps himself in the news? why doesn't he just release stuff on his own, like all the cool dads do?
