Action Beat ft. GW Sok (The Ex), Silent Front, Skinny Girl Diet, Trash Kit, Grimm Grimm, WEM - Aug 9 @ The Lexington
Pretty happy to have put this together, GW Sok – founder of the Ex – joins and fronts no wave, improv-punk drum 10-12 piece noiseniks, Action Beat, for a full-on day of pounding sounds. Also on the bill are the chaotic, primal trio Trash Kit, the distorted tones of Skinny Girl Diet, the razor-sharp post-hardcore Silent Front and more.

ACTION BEAT ft. G.W. SOK
For the uninitiated, G.W. Sok founded and fronted the The Ex for the best of part 30 years. Action Beat are an intense semi-improvised noise/no-wave punk ensemble, inspired by early Sonic Youth, The EX, Glenn Branca and other avant guitar ensembles. Often expanding to as many as fourteen members for live shows, a normal gig will have at least three guitarists, a bassist and between one to four drummers, so it’s not surprising that they’ve gained much recognition in the UK and Europe
Formed in 2009, they've been lighting up London, energising the UK underground with their raw performances, as well as recently touring with the The Ex. Trash Kit have a sound of their very own, it's both urbane and primal, drawing on the potential of punk and the naturalism of an internal folk music. http://trashkitrules.blogspot.co.uk/
Silent Front bring their brand of stop/start razor sharp post hardcore to The Lexington. https://www.facebook.com/silentfront
SKINNY GIRL DIET
The exciting trio bring Riotgrrl grunged up punk vibes to the mix. Having formed in 2011, they are quickly becoming on of the UK’s most exciting musical prospects.
Remember punk-post-punk’s Screaming Tea Party? Grimm Grimm is lead man Koichi's multi-instrumental dreamscapes for the dreamers. http://grimmgrimm.bandcamp.com/
WEM's music ranges from the brutal to the beautiful. The sound palate is dark and uncompromising: at times a pounding dirge, at others ambient, spacious and meditative. Listen to WEM if you like Nick Cave, Swans and Einstuerzende Neubauten.
