hahahaha! that rock'n'roll, eh boys?
They really are this generation's Rolling Stones.
I doubt they actively sought to avoid the tax. They probably will have hired an accountant (or, as likely, their labels will have done) and they will have been put in charge of looking after their money. And expensive accountants are very good at knowing how to bend the law to its limits to make their clients money.
anyone else, to make ethical decisions on their tax payments?
I have to ask myself whether the people being overly critical ever have to deal with self-assessment and being self employed or whether they sit on their moral high ground just because they're in a PAYE scheme and therefore have absolutely no control over their tax payments. Tax avoidance is a different game entirely to tax evasion and as someone said above, the band are very unlikely to have known much about it other than employing someone to do their returns. I can't see Alex Turner sweating over his self-assessment.
