Excited to hear this.
and much like "paradise" i found it disappointing, the only real stand out tracks for me were "everything is new" and "dependable people and things that i'm sure of", the rest just kinda washed over me
really didn't like the first single either :\
PLEASE GIVE ME THE MERCURY MUSIC PRIZE
they've become kind of shit these days right? absolutely none of the charm or fun that they used to have
One of those bands where you're surprised they're still going.
Blood Red Shoes LIVE AT THE LEXINGTON
Only chance to see them this year* !
Don't miss out!
* because the drummer can't get any more time off from teaching music tech to a sixth form class
blood red shoes are massive overseas arent they?
As soon as they deliberately revolted against that label they just became a bit dull. Love the first record though.
Some of those songs are brilliant, You, Earth or Ash, Horses Jumping, Never Look Back etc. It's slower and a bit of a grower but when you're there with it it's a stunning little record. Excited to hear this one too.
If you see them live you'd know the charm is most definitely still there.
I really don't understand why critics are praising it so much. Really forgettable.
I've heard it through twice now. A very strong album for me. I started a Slow Club thread a while back to see what people thought of them in general:
But they're not a band I've ever really been able to get excited about.
I wish the rest of it was up the the quality of the vocals, I am absolutely in love with Rebecca's voice but the songs are just a bit weak at the minute :(
I heard the new album a few more times via stream and three times today via a Google Play download in the early hours as I was on a nightshift. A brilliant album. Easily the best British album out this year so far from me. I didn't realise that they had an album that good in them. The twee and cute pop songs have turned into more grand and powerful songs with brilliant lyrics too. I've always liked them more live than on record as they always come over as nice people and put on a fun show. Really looking forward to tonight's gig. The Village Underground show a few months ago was fun but I obviously hadn't heard the new stuff. Tonight should be excellent.
