Another Donuts and Endtroducing...? Madlib? Which one?
thanks for your time.
I was thinking this exact same question the other day so I'm intrigued to know also.
However, which is the best? Endtroducing for me...
Endtroducing is more atmospheric/dark. Donuts more fun/soulful. Both amazing production wise. Both are little worlds you can lose yourself in.
I think I definitely should (esp. given that I really like the Madlib / Beat Konducta tribute album).
I'm going to use this thread for recommending appropriate albums as and if they come to mind.
Prefuse 73 - Vocal Studies + Uprock Narratives
Really nice middle-ground between the glitchy experiments he'd explore later on; and a more 'traditional' instrumental hip-hop aesthetic akin to Endtroducing. It's an album I find myself frequently coming back to.
Prefuse 73. Never really got on with One Word Extinguisher though. I'll check this one out.
although I often find myself listening to Extinguished Outtakes instead.
RJD2 - Deadringer?
Or Flying Lotus, if that counts.
Flying Lotus - Los Angeles
All the FlyLo stuff is incredible. Probably sounds more electronica but he's been quoted as saying "It's all hip hop man"
The new Lone album is in the vein of old FlyLo, and it's fucking incredible:
I've bee absolutely rinsing it. So great.
but I'm a big fan of Daedelus - Denies the Days Demise
No idea why so many people adore Entroducing and skip the almost as good follow up...
Love that album...
Little People - Mickey Mouse Operation
Emancipator - Dawn til Dusk
Clams Casino - Instrumentals 2 & 3
