is a tune tho
Just edged out by Slide and Cut as the best song on the debut.
has it been used in something recently, noticed it is their top track on spottily by quite a margin, good song but most people don't delve that far into their back catalogue
and few make it past the first few tracks.
I know it is well regarded by fans and critics, but I would have thought 'things that we lost in the fire' era would be the most popular, or more recent ones just because people tend to check out newer ones based on reviews end of year lists etc.
it's good though. I like how the snare at the start of the song is slightly off beat, feels like it's on purpose just to add to the whole 'this is really depressing' vibe.
was not expecting them to be together.
thought it was gonna be a joke thread for sure.
I was a teenager with very little disposable income and previously had only ever bought records by a handful of bands I knew I loved.
My brother had a record of Joy Division covers which included Low's cover of 'Transmission' which I adored so when I saw a Low album in a record shop I bought it.
I really remember, even though it's about 20 years ago now, taking the record home and being REALLY ANXIOUS. Oh my God, what if it's terrible. So much money! Arrghhh! I don't know any of the songs on here... maybe they only sound cool when they cover Joy Division! I felt almost sick with worry, which sounds so ridiculous now.
Anyway I got home and stuck it straight on. I remember hearing the intro to 'Words', the way the music crept out of the speakers, the darkness and the simplicity of it. I relaxed straight away and thought 'this is going to be great, thank God'. And it was. And it still is.
