Ace
london, manchester or leeds
decisions...
i'm trying to work out where you could possibly live
that is situated exactly the same distance from London, Manchester and Leeds.
at uni in sheffield
but my brother lives in london so the most practical overnight option. plus it's only a 2 hour train
I'm at uni in Sheffield as well
How would you do Leeds? I mean I looked at a train back for a Sunday in July and the lags train back to shef was at half 10
i know people i could stay with
if i managed to persuade them to get a ticket. i've been at the IC since 10am and i'm about ready to gouge my eyes out
Hahaha horrible stuff
I'm on my year abroad at the moment, not looking forward to coming back for final year. This is looking like Manchester or London for me.
very nice, whereabouts are you?
Been near Alicante
Working as a teaching assistant in a primary school since February.
What are you studying at Sheff?
english and philosophy
you probably know a girl i lived with last year, i'll pm you
The Ritz
seems like quite the Mancunian jump for them. They filled a 500 capacity venue maybe to two-thirds last time out, and they've had no major boost popularity-wise since...
Yeah, the Ritz does look quite ambitious.
Particularly when you compare it with. for example, the size of the Leeds venue.
How many does Hackney Empire hold ? SBE in April '12 was probably at about 2/3 capacity from recollection.
To answer my own question:
Hackney: 1,275
Manchester Ritz: 1,500
Leeds Belgrave: 250 !
Belgrave holds more like 600, not 250
Still a big gap though!
Hmm, 650 in the whole building ? two bars, roof terrace, etc
250 concert space ?
I'm talking about the concert space
Why would I say 600 if I meant the whole building? I'm not a complete idiot.
Dunno why their website says 200. That's rubbish. Maybe I'm misremembering and it's more like 400 but I'm positive it's no less than that. You can fit 150 odd people in the Games Room at the Bru or upstairs at the Cockpit and they're tiny rooms in comparison.
I think the capacity is based and licensed on only the upstairs room with the stage
Which doesn't include the room with the bar and the sofas at the back. I think 250 is about right. Whilst it might physically hold more people, it can't.
Might also be related to fire regulations etc, I heard, if it isn't already in place, that there's going to be a different entrance/exit opposite the bar, which might allow them to increase the capacity.
Well I would be willing to swear that there were a lot more than 250 people at FotL in November
A lot less at Icarus Line mind you...

Your hypothesis does make some sense though as I was definitely including that bit at the back with the bar in it. I'd still say that bit with stage is bigger than 250 cap but then what do I know.
I guess they could've accidentally over sold FotL, too many guestlist etc
It happens, plus that was one of the first gigs. I was gutted to have to miss that night. Hope they're back soon.
here's the press release

Familiars is the follow-up to 2011’s critically lauded Burst Apart which the Sunday Times described as “some of the most beautiful music in years” and the Independent On Sunday heralded as “a spine tingling triumph”. The album was recorded, engineered and produced by the band in their Brooklyn studio and mixed by Chris Coady (Yeah Yeah Yeahs, TV on the Radio, Beach House) at DNA Downtown Studios. The video for first single “Palace” can be viewed HERE ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E9afJSKCOQQ ) .
The Antlers is Peter Silberman, Darby Cicci and Michael Lerner. Silberman founded The Antlers in 2006 as a solo project and released two bedroom-recorded LPs before enlisting Cicci and Lerner to round out the group. As a trio they recorded and released 2009’s breakout Hospice followed by Burst Apart, as well as the 2012 EP Undersea.
Familiars will be released 16th June on Transgressive Records. “Hotel” single artwork, Antlers photo and tracklisting below:

DiS album of the year didn't make it on to the press release?
boycott the pricks
Look, another band that thinks Europe ends in Paris
or the southern countries with all that beach, beer and football stuff have no time to enjoy their music.
I expect an Iberian leg will be tagged on. Always played there before.
