After some initial doubts, I think this fucker's really doing its thing. After a few listens you just realise it's rammed with stomp, swagger and some old school bad-assery you just don't see so much anymore.
At first found it a little tame, not as jammy and raucous as past stuff but there's just incredible groove in every song that keeps you coming back. Dulli's voice sounds really cool, especially considering the life he's led. Algiers makes total sense in the album and there are a couple of genuinely exciting moments.
Also, possibly has some of the Whigs' finest sensitive moments. The way Metamoros bleeds into It Kills (one of their best ever songs?) is perfect.
'Over and over, I get to know myself.' Wicked.
