This album deserves its own thread. It’s the most fun I’ve had with a dance pop crossover album since Remedy by Basement Jaxx or Discovery by Daft Punk over a decade ago. It’s what I need from dance pop. DJ Q has his sound down; he combines garage, bassline, house, grime, pop, R&B, whatever with killer effect. The songs on here have more energy and more hooks than any of the current crop of dance pop people, he makes Katy B sound pretty hit’n’miss, Disclosure sound so tepid it’s unreal and the house & bass in the charts at the moment like Gorgon City, Clean Bandit sound like M&S advert music. If you want that energy, that fun that you don’t find in pop everyday it’s here. Stream it on p4k and grab it from Local Action.
