or first song released online/as a single whatever.
silversun pickups - kissing families
but they had some really great songs/albums afterwards. On my playlist, I have Gender Bombs as track one and Lola as track two - just because its domination of everything else on that record was ruining my enjoyment...
ok, so it's the first track on their debut LP, but it will do.
Some people think Ten Little Girls by Curve. They're wrong.
those rap sections... *shudder*
From the second album.
I'm not going to, and then I'm going to claim that 'Floating Vibes', the first song on Surfer Blood's first record, is up there with my favourite indie-rock songs and is by all accounts a fucking belter.
Great band, and all of the first three albums are essential, but they never bettered 'Blitzkreig Bop'.
2nd track on 2nd album m8
especially funny cos it's true
But it's also why Red period is best.
Aqualung - Strange & Beautiful (I'll Put a Spell on You). He never did anything better, although I suppose Cinderella comes close.
Also, Further by Longview, and I say that as a huge Longview fan. I think they have other great songs, but Further was in its own league.
The Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster and Celebrate Your Mother, although that one's up for debate.
The Joy Formidable - The Greatest Light is the Greatest Shade
The Verve - Gravity Grave (although the 8 minute version kicks the shit out of the edit that appears on the EP).
Tamaryn - The Waves
The Hours - Ali in the Jungle
That's also not her first release.
and isn't the best of their long form stuff, while Mild Confusion, Dawning and Sandstone are all better than the waves...
not disappointed :D
trini lopez - if i had a hammer
barrett strong - money
lorne greene - ringo
la's - there it goes
rip chords - hey little cobra
I got a million of 'em
was the first song the Killers wrote at their first rehearsal.
To peak in the first half hour or so of your existence is pretty impressive/stupid.
Frengers, didn't they?
I mean, personally I think there are several KC songs better than 21CSM but I'm sure many would say there aren't...
The normal - warm leatherette
Hard-Fi - Cash Machine
Supergrass - Caught By The Fuzz
Libertines - What A Waster
Also Franz Ferdinand - Darts of Pleasure
They've made tons of wonderful songs, but nothing beats their first.
Anyway web in front by archers of loaf
and I have every faith he'll top it in future, but there's a special magic to Live In Dreams by Wild Nothing that nothing else he's done so far captures.
"Call me what you will, just call me again" <3
first full length not first release but still
for the entire thread
