Same rules/format as before. Mention as many albums as you want but please make your album of the month very clear as it helps a lot when I'm tallying up the scores.
I know that albums will be released on Monday 31st March. Looking at the releases the only one of major interest for me is the new Cloud Nothings. I've streamed it several times as it's very good. I'll probably check out the White Hinterland album also on Monday.
However, my album of the month is The War On Drugs - Lost In The Dream. It's simply stunning and heads and shoulders above anything else I've heard this year. I've heard it at least once day all the way through since it was released and I think I'll be able to listen to this album daily for weeks without getting bored of it at all; a perfect follow up to Slave Ambient. The reviews which mention songs that resemble those of Springsteen, Dylan and even Dire Straits are all true(, yes even the last one) but so did Slave Ambient. Sometimes on the first listen to an album you know you're listening to one of the year's best and I had exactly that feeling for this one. It needs checking out if you haven't already. Even though their Koko gig is two months away the prospect of them playing most of the set from this album as well as many from Slave Ambient (I hope) makes for a potentially brilliant night and a gig that I'm hugely looking forward to.
I'll keep the thread open until Saturday 5th April to give everyone a chance to have listens to next weeks releases before I add the scores up. Also, please forgive any shameless bumping of the thread by me.
