I like it, would be interested to know what it sounds like live
did he do the funny dance while recording it?
I think it's their best album to date
very easy to listen to, nice playful synth and strong hooks/melodies. Glad to see the band have seemingly capitalized on being thrown into the spotlight by releasing a good album.
...
Yep, better than On the Water
and that's saying something as that had a couple of immense tracks.*
*"Tracks" is what cool people call songs.
Awful album cover and title
But if the rest is as good as Seasons then I will love it.
the title is great you loon

I’d argue that the title refers more to loneliness than to album tracks
the previous albums are very heavy break-up albums, and I see this as a continuation of that theme.
Has it got their hit single Letter Man on it?
Please make this band go away now
It'd be easier if you went away
COR HE'S DONE YOU THERE LIKE
Fucking dreadful. DREADFUL.
My friend described his voice as like her cat coughing up a furball at 4am.
Also the start of Seasons sounds like Born Slippy so it's all downhill from there when it comes to comparisons. Underworld >>>> Future Islands.
Their music is truth man
and all their apparent weaknesses (fat, geeky, can't dance, sings silly, no guitars, weird songs) are their strengths.
It's a band that for once are fucking different!
pretty much this
but there's also earnest, embarrassing and unselfconscious. I find the notion of postirony as stupid and slimy as the next guy but, for me, it's a relief to hear a band writing love songs that raise an eyebrow at our cynicism towards nostalgia and sentiment, rather than flattering it and taking home the credibility cheque.
you forgot their crucial weakness:
being shit

Thanks for that
wait
this isn't a best of? why the fuck is it called "singles" then.
because any song off it could be a single
true fact.
none of them have ever had a girlfriend
It's ok, I'm about 50/50 on liking their stuff.
but I think 80's synth fatigue is setting in. Fine Old Cannibals ?
I reckon this band will have slipped back into semi obscurity within a few months.
This is no nu-wave topshop-core crap
sounds like dick valentine
this thread went meta

In Evening Air = On the Water = Singles > In the Fall EP > Wave Like Home > Little Advances EP
I love their last 3 albums more or less at the same level but for very different reasons.
Really, really, really love it
bought it yesterday off 7digital. Think it might be my favourite thing to come out this year after Wild Beasts/Beck.
I've not stopped humming and singing Seasons in a very flamboyant manner round the house since first hearing it on Letterman. Fall from Grace is another beast of a song too, my God this band have come along at a perfect time. Love over the top emotional nonsense you can sing along to.
Some of it's great.
Some of it's good. Some of it's a bit arse. Much like their other albums. Glad it's out there.
his voice is great
music sounds like the magic numbers reinvented themselves by buying a keyboard
You're all mental
apart from Royter-Hatfood
Fucking great band.
Love how they troll so many people simply by existing.
Don't think it'll be an Album of the Year contender or owt, but one of my favourites so far. I appareciate he has a weird vocal style on some tracks, and it's properly derivitive 80s stuff, but it's fun, so why get your knickers in a twist?
Hodor?
Hodor! *nods enthusiastically*
Baffled.
Probably one of the worst things I've heard in years. Don't understand any of the 'hype' or why people are so excited by it. I mean, I love Sea & Cake and all sorts of similarish things. They just make me crave another Mercury Rev album and wish Arcade Fire never happened.
"They just make me crave another Mercury Rev album and wish Arcade Fire never happened"
Baffled by this.
So soft-rock is a thing again?
Unexpected.
Seasons is brilliant, one of the years best tracks so far i reckon
not sold on the rest of the album yet though. This thread is amusing though, reminds me of the reactions to going through the comments on YouTube to the Letterman performance. "Who is this man and why is he doing things slightly different to what I'm used to, not happy with this uniqueness at all!"
Sun In The Morning is a chooon
Disposable
is how i would describe this album, which is a real shame as i loved On the Water. 2 or 3 really good songs, the rest just ok. Doesn't hang together as an album for me.
