Anyone else heard the new record. Mind-blowingly good. For fans of early Cursive, in particular.
off to see em in may tho
Wasn't *really* a fan of Wildlife but I still think the debut is right up there with the best of them so hoping this is a return to form (in my eyes). Looking forward to the show too, Bush Hall is a great little venue.
Hoping it arrives today.
I kind of got into La Dispute backwards, heard Wildlife first a couple of years ago and I've tracked down all their stuff since then.
Amazing band. Never really thought about them sounding like Cursive (another one of my favourite bands), I always thought they were very similar to mewithoutYou, who are very much worth checking out if you've not listened to them before (especially Brother/Sister, Ten Stories and Catch For Us The Foxes).
I need to give it another go.
Brother/Sister and Ten Stories are both incredible.
but the bits I've heard reminded me of mewithoutYou who I love so I'll check out more of their stuff.
primarily to see O'Brother who are supporting and utterly amazing
can't get into the La Dispute guys vocals, sounds like a bad Geoff Rickley
dont think he sounds like Geoff in the slightest
I can understand the Cursive comparison on this album but his delivering is really irking me, can't get on with it. Argh the debut is so fucking amazing, this is such a shame.
Really don't enjoy the new album but the new songs came across well live. Glad to get some absolute belters from Somewhere At The Bottom... though, Andria is one of my absolute favourites so that was a highlight. Plus they are just so fucking tight live and the sound was great, plus room to stand and see everything at the back!
So yeah, all in all, really good gig. Anyone going tonight/tomorrow is in for a treat.
wasnt really a fan to be honest. Thought it sounded pretty underwhelming, and the singer had an annoying stage presence. full of kids too which was weird
thought O'Brother would be much better instrumental and if they cut out the quiet bits which dragged. some weird metal moves too
and was like, full of proper scene kids? Tunnels and Parkway Drive hoodies and stuff... definitely weird.
Didn't watch O'Brother cos they're shit so can't comment on their performance.
Did you see Eugene Quell, badman? Reasonably excited about them too...
They're... alright. Kind of intentionally lofi and sloppy I guess but that's not really my thing.
I could try deleting a post to see if that'll kick it into action...?
Who were good, but the vocals were a bit weak.
La Dispute were ok I suppose. Entertaining enough for an hour but ultimately fairly uninspiring. Some of the lyrics make me laugh tbh.
Eugene Quell were awful. Sad to see Toby playing such naff wannabe grunge.
without Andy Hull's interesting voice.
but yeah too much noodling around.
Eugene Quell was rubbish
just cos this album is fucking awesome.
