I love art about Los Angeles. Chandler, Fante, Bukowski, etc - these guys all wrote about the city in a way that just excites me. It's about sun-bleached aspiration, loneliness, incredible highs and crushing lows. I love it.
And I'd love some albums that have this feel and which explicitly grapple with the city. I've tried to find lists online but have struggled. Some albums that fit the bill:
Warren Zevon - Warren Zevon (esp Desperados Under The Eaves)
The Bronx (1st album)
Mariachi El Bronx
