have we had a thread on this yet?
i've always found them really boring in the past but i'm loving this record
They take the bland, jangly indie thing and do it really, really well.
I'm a fan tbh, I've been meaning to buy their last one for ages.
other than being a bit sadder, so what changed?
i've since gone back to the older stuff but it just doesn't really do it for me, insightful eh?
pure banger man
you sir are correct
pretty happy with that tbh
tried and tried and tried but it was so fucking samey the whole way through with no pazzaz. Is this different?
but as mentioned not as happy
but everything they've released since has been fantastic. They're one of those bands that stick to a formula but never sound banal or repetitive. The National are another such band. Predictable but satisfying nonetheless.
Songs like Primitive, Crime and Talking Backwards are easily the best songs they've ever made.
I think Pitchfork were a bit generous with the mark though, especially considering they gave St Vincent 8.6...but then again half of Pitchfork's reviews are bollocks anyway.
It's a Real Estate album, I enjoyed the previous two albums so on a sure fire winner with this one. No big departure, no big surprises. This and Wild Beasts leading the way for me in this fledgling year.
but still basically fine
both very good in similar ways
but this is somehow brilliant, despite essentially sounding exactly the same.
