30th and 31st May, SWANS are playing as are some others, here:
Sadly, it clashes with Primavera.
(I'm up for this)
I'm in Iceland
I'll be at this and not Primavera this year. Who wants to stand in a lush green park in the sunshine drinking cold beer when you can be in a dissused factory in Birmingham with lot's of old men creating white noise.
Not sure about this though. Only 400 tickets? Swear it's been more than that in the past? Won't know if I can go for a few weeks yet so kinda annoying that it'll definitely sell out before I know.
In fact every venue they're playing on their May/June tour is 400+ capacity if I'm not much mistaken!
Day tickets on top of this as well most likely...
If they're only using a small part of the Custard Factory then 200-300ish?
So possibly you're right yeah, another few hundred for each day.
Last time Swans played in B'ham was in the small room in the Institute anyway, which is only about 500/600 capacity, plus it didn't sell out.
Take your point though.
I wanted to come back for this this year. Lineup isn't really selling me on that.
I was hoping for a return to the usual Supersonic setup sometime in October or whenever. This looks like a "lite" version of Supersonic. The reduced capacity probably means that although its still in the Custard Factory, it will be in a different part of it.
No film programme, exhibitions, talks, not nearly as much music either. It looks like a good event per se, but to someone who was still holding on for a proper return I can't help but feel underwhelmed.
Can anyone recommend any other festivals that are similar to the old Supersonic of yore?
the poster says there are talk, films, etc.
Reckon I'll still go, but I'll miss the old Supersonic.
to be fair. I agree I miss the old Supersonic too but for now this will do.
