Probably the Paranoid Android by Radiohead for me
As a 13 year old it made my head explode. I must have put it on 6 times in a row and just sat there not believing what I was listening to.
probably Bone Machine then, by default.
Was about 13 and very late to music, but the best of REM was my first proper music purchase in 2003. Loved this song and made me explore further.
Young Lo-Pan - Heart, by the pet shop boys
Middle Lo-Pan - Bittersweet symphony by the verve
Older & wiser Lo-Pan - Shelter from the storm, bob Dylan.
...I've just listened to bittersweet for the first time in a good while, that track still has a profound effect on me. Everything changed for me after hearing that for the first time
US69 - 2069 (A Spaced Oddity)
Particularly the vocals; safe to say I'm now a huge TH fan.
The first time I heard Jane Doe, this song blew my mind because it was just so calm and droney compared to the songs before it.
possibly one of the most moving drone pieces I've heard yet I still can't really explain why, seeing him at Supersonic afterwards was also absolutely incredible.
First time I heard this, wasn't sure what the hell was going on. Its actually pretty tame when compared to their other songs, but hearing that for the first time was "woah!"
Had waited 5 years for the follow up to Aenima. Was in Canada on the day of Lateralus' release. There had been NO LEAKS on this album before its release.I hadn't heard a single note. I went out to a local record shop, bought the cd, put it on and The Grudge is the opening track. Played it 5 or 6 times before I even heard the 2nd track on the album. Still my favourite song of all time.
Heairing Here by VAST for the s1t time. It was the last song on a Kerrang Compilation, just after Visual Audio Sensory Theatre had come out. Had never heard of them. Havev bought pretty much everything John Crosby has brought out since.
