no idea whether my tickets are valid, or what they're valid for
£2 'Gigantic Fuckup' insurance on all tickets booked.
They're probably be bankrupt (again) with two months but at least it might give them some motivation to maintain a basic level of competence.
When DiS delete threads because they risk losing their free ticket to the next atp shit fest. We've all seen the like up - it is reported in lots of places; who cares about a pointless embargo when the news is out there.
We have to pay £90 for the weekender tickets, although unlike the public tickets, these come with nowhere to sleep. This is why I've only been to one ATP.
Even when they get something right they balls it up

IT WAS ON THEIR OWN WEBSITE
Ridiculous behaviour. ATP got where they were because of people on this site and others sharing and discussing their events.
They simply requested we remove all mentions of it because of the screw up. They were very polite about the whole thing.
to ask a website to censor their users because of a mistake you've made. If you do something that brainless, you kind of have to live with the consequences and look a bit silly.
Anyway, they've lost the fucking plot quite clearly
You're not on the distribution list of the emails I was copied in on, so maybe there was separate set.
Could you please shut down your website immediately, and also physically restrain all of your users and anyone who might have logged into your site? Can't really go into specifics. You're just going to have to trust us on this one!
All the best,
(on a non-DiS site)
Do these people know how the Internet works?
I hope you told them to go get fucked
(I can't confirm, as I've not been contacted by anyone who does press for them since Jamie Summers left)
but it was actually embargoed until some other time so then all the links and mentions were gradually taken down, including every thread that was made on this site.
That's about the best I can say without us having to delete this thread too. :-/
don't take *redacted* down a peg or two.
ATP vs the Fans 3
Ok, fair enough they want to announce it on their own terms, but the bloody stuff is out there now. Just announce it already!
by putting it on their website and selling tickets.
doesn't work for them anymore.
you've been Wolfcastled
about whose fault this one is.
Somewhere quite cool, with some bands on whom I like. Would tickets be on sale for this already or not? And if they are, does anyone know (via PM I guess) where this mystery weblink might live?
THIS IS ALL HYPOTHETICAL AND MERE RUMINATION, A BIT LIKE ALL THAT PHONE HACKING STUFF
until they've sorted this out? Even after they have, it's pretty reckless on the balance of historical evidence.
All will be revealed.
... a better hint would've been that the line up was frabjous. Or that, on seeing it, you chortled in your joy.
*name redacted* you promised meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Is Primavera didn't want this announced until their after lineup is announced today, as there is going to be a lot of crossover. I reckon it'll be (re)announced tomorrow.
theyll probably be a significant crossover. electric wizard and hookworms at primavera would be bangin
Might be some contractual issues around when certain things get announced if there are any bands playing both festivals.
Still, breaking your own embargo is pretty funny.
P*******k just announcing their festival and the P*******a lineup coming out tonight, so their publicity machines might be a bit too preoccupied for J*********y at the mo.
Summers has left/gone?
which i presume includes the chance to pay £235 to meet Foreigner for cucumber sandwiches and get a big laminated sticker at their forthcoming acoustic gig at Shepherd's Bush Empire

TBC, TBC- Test Setup - Alpha

2 Day Pass
Super psyched for it.
just enjoyed the new March next year dates (always a fall back). Wonder if there's a secondary market for our super rare emails.
Test Dept are coming to Newcastle to hit a bridge soon if you want to see them. EXCITED
If an embargo is broken, it's broken, you can't put it back in the bottle - especially if it was their fault. They should just have to deal with it as best they can. They're being cut an unbelievable amount of slack here.
if you use a search engine that isn't Google ...
...Primavera's solicitors screaming "YOU FUCKING HALFWITS, YOU AGREED TO NOT ANNOUNCE THIS UNTIL AFTER OUR LINE UP ANNOUNCEMENT, NOW EVERYONE KNOWS AND SOME PEOPLE WON'T BUY TICKETS TO FLY TO SPAIN WHEN ALL THE BANDS ARE ON IN LONDON - YOU ABSOLUTELY PROMISED YOU HAD PUT THIS FUCK-WOTTERY BEHIND YOU WHEN WE AGREED TO PUT THIS ON TOGETHER"
(making that up, obviously)
also could someone please pm the line-up? cheers

Mad Hatter vs Wimbledon
A) The Mad Hatter and The Cheshire Cat only appear in Alices Adventures in Wonderland, not the sequel.
B) What exactly is the Davis Cup short for? Wimbledon I will accept as the full title is The Championships, Wimbledon.
Clearly the answer is Walrus WTA
shame, it's an ace line up!
Jeez, maybe you need to read the whole thread?
I'm genuinely interested. Surely legally ATP have released all the information themselves so people are free to talk about it.
Is it just a courtesy thing?
They've asked that we delete all the threads containing the information about the line up of this festival they managed to fuck up and leak early.
People are free to talk about it. We ARE talking about it right here.
I have no stake in this whatsoever, but I presume it's bad business for Sean to piss off a major promoter, not because of mythical free tickets, but because in the future they might decide not to offer interviews to his site, given they also manage bands etc.
So yeah, it's a courtesy thing I suppose, but I'm struggling to get why you didn't already understand that from all the discussion above in this thread?
or that it would cause any real issues.
I don't think they have a right to ask DiS to remove information from their boards that they've already released. If DiS disagree, that's fine. It's sean's board and he has every right to remove whatever he likes.
ATP needs sites like DiS at least as much as DiS needs ATP. Probably quite a bit more. So I doubt there's much at stake for DiS here. If it's just a courtesy thing, it's fair enough, but it's a bit farcical when everyone knows everything but nobody's allowed to talk about it.
You can doubt all you like, by the way, but I'm not sure why Sean should listen to you when you say that while you tell him he shouldn't listen to ATP?
Their events would always be discussed on here because DiS can't afford to not mention ATP but I was definitely implying points about exclusive/early (ha!) info, which clearly they could easily avoid giving without losing too much exposure.
but it has been suggested that having the info out there it might balls up some of the bookings
The full line-up can be found on at least 2 other UK-based music forums. Right now.
more minimising it. Anyway, like I said, it was mostly courtesy
I don't know what you're getting so wound up about.
from a post on the other ATP 'Jabber' thread on here, which was hanging around quite a while earlier.
There's nothing to stop everyone posting the line up over and over. I'd rather you didn't: it's childish and pointless and, for all we know, it will actually jeopardise the lineup itself if there's some big hoo-har over some festival having an 'exclusive' to that artist already announced. Fuck knows.
It would be great if everyone would just content themselves with poring over various cached Google instances or just waited for the actual announcement, and meanwhile, feel free to point and laugh at the ridiculousness of the situation.
but to post it once you've already understood why we were deleting all the other posts is certainly a bit ridiculous, no? Jordan, naming no names *cough*
When i posted the original line up, i had no idea it was embargoed...
just to reiterate i thought it was the link to the poster/event that was causing an issue, not just mentioning the event. didnt mean to cause extra beef
i won't be going anyway
celebrating their 100th ATP performance
performing Trout Mask Replica in full.
It'd be so boring if they were a competently run company.
Exited, such an amazing collaboration, will run like clockwork I'm sure
it'd be cool if instead of deleting posts we could replace them with (REDACTED) . imagine the banter
this is some 24ct self-inflicted shenanigans right here matey
Looking forward to seeing █████████ at ATP ███████
Except Neutral Milk Hotel, who'd already been announced. Suggests they weren't the reason for the embargo.
N****** M*** H****
literally be the greatest
C****** announced something on his Twitter...
i noticed it was only yesterday the last.fm page for it got deleted, suggests whatever legal wrangles are happening re: it are still ongoing. odd
hhahahahahhahh jesus fucking christ
but the Excel Centre????
hope you all enjoy watching caribou next door to the international caravaning exhibition
It's a shame that Swans and Thor won't be there.
wouldn't be the first time they'd announced an event at a venue they hadn't booked yet
the Excel Centre to 'let them down' unexpectedly.
taking place at Biggins Hill airport
noted for its pristine acoustics
they don't know what they're doing, do they?
alternatively it might just be two huge stages in a huge room alternating. if so: oh dear.
I don't see why it'll be noticeably different to, say, the smaller two rooms at Ally Pally.
I doubt the areas this will be held in is as cavernous as the great hall at Ally Pally or the Pavilion Stage at Butlins.
just a bit disappointing i guess. was looking forward to going to something that combined good music with some nice outside time. you know, a festival.
is really making up for the death of camber sands
it'll be a lot better as a venue than Earls Court, Olympia and Wembley Arena.
Is Wembley Arena a conference centre?
it is used for shows sometimes - point is that it's a shell of a room that can be tailored to concerts with a stage and front-facing seats, events in the round (eg the motoracing stuff) and events where the seats are racked away.
that's close enough in my eyes
the reason the excel is so popular is that there are so many different room sizes, and it has so many moveable acoustic partitions.
they've managed to out-troll Morrissey in today's music announcements. no mean feat.
ice hockey, triathlon, motor show, Olympic ping pong, 'Giants Live'. Most of those not gigs.
with Alexandra Palace IMO
unless it's raining
there's plenty of outdoor space to set up stages and stuff. I don't know if it's been changed since then.
though you pay an additional fee for the Roxy Music. They built a special 'intimate outdoor arena' out the back of the exCel, past the cars. I think the festival part was called 'Dock Rock'. MeatLoaf did one day. Alice Cooper another. Possibly some version of Deep Purple and maybe Mick Hucknall if I recall.
was the sound gash?
It was just a bit under attended, and at the motor show.
Roxy Music played on a large stage outside if I remember.
really expensive too, so much for the ATP's 'independent ethos'
with it's independent Burger King and quirky little pizza place (hut).
I think you lot are actually miffling up the wrong miffle this time.
That line up, easy to get to venue with loads of pubs around, not really sure the problem. Ugly, yes, but then Alexandra Palace is a pretty and you all bleated about the sound there.
Save your miffle for when they change the date, lose half the bands, or ask you to pay in rupees directly into Barry's shoebox under his bed.
So you are coming with me then?
it's the only festival you can take the Boris Cablecar to.
"For those of you wondering about the venue - never fear, we're going to make it great like we always have with all of our more unusual venues in the past. We were finding outdoor sound limits to be too restrictive for the production values we want to deliver"
Impossible to blow the roof off if you're outside.
"1 x roof."
Unless by making it great they mean putting a stage outdoors under a freeway and putting the main stage inside what was basically a gutted warehouse.
they did an excellent job with the sound at Netil House and that was essentially a one off pop-up type affair.
Probably rate the excel center more than atp, enjoyed many a London expo there
It's a bit weird that only 4 of the 20 bands are scheduled to play then. It would really help if they gave us some idea how many bands they hope to book for each day.
Given that the prices are the same for the Friday and the Saturday you would assume that the number of bands booked for each day should be roughly equal. But then you would also assume that the Friday might not start until 4pm-ish as that's what they've always done in the past with the ATP and IBYM weekends. But it's pretty dangerous to assume anything the way ATP has conducted itself of late.
I definitely fancy the Saturday but there's no way i'm buying a weekend ticket until they decide to offer up some more details about how many bands we can expect on the Friday.
I guess the less info they release about the event, the less stuff they will then be under pressure to keep to.
that massive imbalance. I'm not wild on the lineup, or the venue *shudder*, but £35 for the Saturday as it stands is good value. But yeah, I might buy a 2-day ticket if that Friday didn't look so odd.
I'd think nothing of paying £15-20 to see each of those, so Friday is looking interesting to me.
Pretty reluctant to give ATP any money just yet though.
I think I'll probably take a gamble on a weekend ticket tbh there are a enough bands I'm interested in seeing on both days.
looking forward to this (Y)
Looks exceptional for £37.
ATP are running a ludicrously convoluted Instagram line up announcement thing.
"a series of clues will be placed on the ATP Instagram. Identify the locations around London before 3pm in the photos and go there; each location will have one of the new band names somewhere on the site. Be the first to announce that band on the line-up by Instagramming a picture of the band name to your Instagram/Facebook/Twitter followers and tagging @atpfestival and #jabberwocky."
Anyway, first names up seem to be:
The Van Pelt
Sun Kil Moon
Would like to hear a Sun Kil Moon song about the day he did an instagram band name treasure hunt and somebody died.
Do i have to actually go to a place and look for a sign of something, like Anneka Rice on Treasure Hunt?
Think i will just wait until someone tells me.
Clue 4 - Flowered Up?!
God I hope so.
get 2 free weekend tickets
in the ExCel Centre.
these are all going to be friday additions today?
I think there's a piece of paper taped to a cow's arse in Hackney City Farm that has the provisional stage times on it. I'll Instagram you.
Apart from maybe the Lexington? Does that make me a shit member of the LME?
Friday: James Blake, Darkside, Thee Oh Sees, Perfect Pussy, Amen Dunes, patten, Paus.
Saturday: The Bug, Sun Kil Moon, Forest Swords, The Van Pelt, Yamantaka // Sonic Titan, Oso Leone, Joana Serrat.
Saturday keeps looking better and better. Not going to bother with Friday though.
ATP have confirmed to me that these are still valid, in case anyone was worried
Good ol' ATP.
Made this playlist in anticipation: http://open.spotify.com/user/ma0sm/playlist/2oBNYIzhynjw5IDVLyxees
presumably for the Friday...
is 'clipping' the wolf eyes rap group. that will be good
vvvvv up for seeing that
I think *finally* just incredible enough for me to part with my money to ATP :)
this lineup is unreal. SOLD.
I'd been making a list of bands I really wanted to catch this year, and it's basically all of them
strong stuff anyway
(if that's what he's doing) will be ridiculously great. Do not miss.
Did they announce Kate Bush or something?
But i'll be traveling down from Liverpool, so should I just go for the two days? hmmm.
the line up gets better. Cloud Nothings best be on the saturday.
however, this being ATP. ....I still have my reservations..
Cloud Nothings are indeed on the Saturday :)
Friday 15th August 2014: JAMES BLAKE / DARKSIDE / THEE OH SEES / PANDA BEAR / I BREAK HORSES / DEAFHEAVEN / KODE9 / CHELSEA WOLFE / PERFECT PUSSY / CLIPPING. / AMEN DUNES / PATTEN / PAUS / UNTOLD / MICK TURNER / BIG UPS
Saturday 16th August 2014: NEUTRAL MILK HOTEL / CARIBOU / KURT VILE AND THE VIOLATORS / LIARS / PISSED JEANS / CONNAN MOCKASIN / THE EX / EARTH / ELECTRIC WIZARD / VATICAN SHADOW / JESU / THE BUG / CLOUD NOTHINGS / THE VAN PELT / ICEAGE / SPEEDY ORTIZ / JOANNA GRUESOME / METZ / FOREST SWORDS / SUN KIL MOON / HOOKWORMS / EAUX / THE GROWLERS / YAMANTAKA // SONIC TITAN / OSO LEONE / JOANA SERRAT
maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay buy tickets
hahaha the hotel packages on their site are hilarious
SIX HUNDRED AND FIFTY QUID FOR TWO NIGHTS
also it's a stupid boutique hotel (https://www.acehotel.com/london) and not a Travelodge or something
the same room booked through the hotel's site only runs to £420 for the two nights, so even adding on £80 for two tickets you're still £100 below what they're charging
good one ATP
must be worth at least £100 :P
Just bought a 2-day pass. £30 a day is just too cheap to pass up, and the Primavera/Pitchfork partnership is enough to persuade me it won't be cancelled.
not too fussed by either so doubt ill head out to hackney wick. would really like to get into the thing on sunday for more oh sees (at sunday lunchtime!) but dunno how difficult that might be.
Someone playing at Latitude?
war on drugs & goat also possible..
I was thinking more like Mogwai
that makes much more sense
maybe someone a bit different, a bit out there for ATP
something must be up..
ben frost is amazing
but I have crossed my fingers so....
NO KNOWLEDGE OR CONFIRMATION! FFS
this is one of the great DiS thread titles
Saturday ticket booked.
i only have a saturdday ticket and am starting to hope that he'll be added to the friday- saturday's already too busy, there are going to be such clashes :(
but the Friday lineup (even with Ben Frost) probably isn't enough for me to want to take a day off work and buy a full weekend ticket.
Saturday is ridiculous.
Earth, The Bug, Pissed Jeans, Ben Frost, Electric Wizard...
it cant possibly end up being as good as the lineup is
And now a show for them has just been announced the Saturday evening in Hackney. Dead annoying, that.
Decided it had to be done. I think it says a lot about DiS that we have all been remorselessly cynical about this since that first botched announcement and yet everyone here is probably still going to end up going. Forgiving bunch.
Playing Leeds on 14th August. Refuse to believe that's a coincidence.
I had a feeling it would be Slint, incredibly excited about seeing them finally.
I missed them in December because Om were playing the Brudenell same night as the Manchester show but now it looks like I'll be seeing Slint in Leeds and at the Jabberfest so can't complain.
unlikely to be Slint
We're beyond excited to announce a new DIY, One Inch Badge and RockFeedback Presents show (in association with WME), headlined by the legendary Slint.
Taking place on 13th August, the cult heroes will play a headline date at London's Brixton Electric.
Also playing 12th Augus Brighton Old Church
DOES. NOT. COMPUTE.
Playing the 15th in Glasgow, the 19th in Dublin. Still leaves the 16th for Jabberwocky.
I pray ATP haven't fucked this up.
Secret guests are going to be Slowdive.
That gap in Slint's schedule is quite glaring now.
time timing of the secret guests announcemnt ( Day after Latitude) makes it obvious it's someone on that line up. Slowdive and Mogwai fit the bill best.
But Slint could be too of course
Slint self confrimed for Green man on the 16th
