Help him raise £13k for a jolly to the US to record an album
lmao, some mug is paying him £250 to play in their front room. he would be lucky to get £50 and someone's front room floor to sleep in on tour.
bit weird that the song playing presumably isnt his
I know nowt about Luke Leighfield, other than his DiS board history, but... every time I see someone say "pay someone a large amount of money to get a flash studio etc. etc." I think... all Pledge/Kickstarter is, for the most part, is a preorder. Albeit a preorder with more stuff than you usually just get when ordering the next Coldplay album from Amazon.
We have an amazing snobbishness sometimes about a musician making money, or making their records in anything other than abject squalor, where all the rest of us rightly want a reasonable quality of life off the back of our respective livings.
I admit that some of the extras you get with these things aren't for me - be a roadie for a day and all that crap. Or, come to that, getting your name in the liner notes, which unlike the vast majority of these projects, he's not asking for any extra money for.
I'm guessing the original poster will say the comment was light-hearted, and I'm sure it was. But I wanted to have my silly little rant anyway because I know a lot of people genuinely do feel that way.
yeah but the dis history is an important part of the context, if it was someone else you'd give them the benefit of the doubt, where as this guy has shown himself to be a little self important and so you cant help interpret his kickstarter in the same way.
but as he is nearly half way to his target which validates the whole thing, looks like he will have the last laugh
perhaps after all of that he wouldn't need to beg for a kickstarter to fund an album that doesn't need to be recorded in the US with an expensive producer.
So he's the captain of every extra-curricular class in school and no good at any of them. At least he's plucky. And, from looking at his kickstarter progress, he's got his fans.
