Then when I say it's ok, post it here.
100 Club - Feb 3rd
Royal Albert Hall (in the round) - Feb 7th
O2 Arena - Feb 8th/9th
Royal Festival Hall - Feb 11th
Roundhouse ('Purple Love' valentine's special) - Feb 14th
who wants to come see prince on valentines day, and then have sex, with me?
but I get the idea he's gonna announced these gigs and they'll be happening all in the same week of the announcement, not giving much time to sort out getting to London/time from work etc
But it is Prince, so i'm willing to push the limits to be there (that's if by chance I can get tickets!)
It's likely that at least some of these gigs will be held in really small venues.
"You on the list?"
"What's the name?"
"Abel Testafye + 1"
"ok, there you are, that'll be twelve quid mate"
considering Green Door Store in Brighton were applying to get Prince last year among other venues in the area it wouldn't surprise me.
lady gaga innit
not sure of the others
Are you Lianne La Havas?
saying it was the only 'proper' venue they could find that didn't already have something booked on that day. Not sure if it was based on anything more than that.
Anyone know when the press conference is?
According to tweet from lianne la havas https://twitter.com/liannelahavas/status/429651852695986176
This interview is breathtakingly insightful: http://www.timeout.com/london/music/prince-comes-to-london
today then. Definitely today. Yes.
he's gong ot announce the dates today and one of them is tonight? If so that is crazy arrogant and I love it. even though it means I won't be able to come as I was hoping the dates would be over a weekend and I could pop down for it.
Isn't he supposed to be playing a set at Lianne La Havas's house as part of the press conference though?
Knowing Prince though the whole thing could be an elaborate hoax to promote his new single and he's going to sue everyone who posted about it on Twitter, the (alleged) cheeky scoundrel.
PRINCE & 3RDEYEGIRL ALONG WITH INSTRUMENTS AND CREW R NOW IN LONDON.
In fact Last.fm indicates there are no gigs 'near London' tonight. So yeah...could be anywhere tonight or maybe it's not tonight at all.
Tube strike is going to make this excellent for everybody
at 2pm. Officially apparently.
cos her flat's not big enough to have that many guests, even if one is as little as Prince.
so you're probably right. Somewhere in Leyton apparently.
just tell us the dates you funky purple fuck
and tickets go on sale at midnight.
queuing outside The Electric Ballroom as I was heading back home about 25 minutes ago. Despite the rain/wind those guys seemed pretty determined.
Apparently played in front of 50 people tonight
from what I can gather.
Jazz Cafe tonight. After that I had some late drinks. Walking back to the station at around 00:15 I saw at least 150 queuing with metal barriers and security present too. If they only allowed 50 people in it's a bit mean as loads were queuing in shit weather.
in order to make people think that it was their own fault for getting in. As a result, I imagine people to have started queuing for tonight's show already.
So when the tweets came through from his manager I went down and queued. Was in maybe the first 20 people from about 10.45. I queued until about 12.20 when I got sick of the rain and it was evident no one seemed to be getting in and rumours abound it was gonna stay that way. He was alreasy playing to the press and whatnot inside as well. About 10 mins later the doors opened and I still got in despite all those queuing already getting in. He played infront of about 300 people for about 4 or so songs and said he'd be back tomorrow. Was very surreal but great. Looks like he will be playing at the Ballroom tonight. I'm a big fan of his 80s stuff but don't really know anything from the 90s onwards. Worth noting that he will likely be playing a lot of the new album with reworkings of the classics. The band he has at the moment mean the songs are heavier and, at times, punkier. Good luck to those aiming to go tonight. Gonna have a crack tonight myself. Rumours are its turn up, first come, first served so may have to leave work early.
Best of luck, reckon I'll stay away - the queues'll be around the block!
These from last night said there's a show tonight also
Gonna need a Bureau De Change
Are saying tickets are first come, first served from 2pm (!)
but you did a million nights at the o2 last time, spread the love prince!
It's like when Charlie left Busted and played a gig in Bridgend, except Prince is Busted, so he's The Artist Formerly Known As Busted, or TAFKAB for short.
fingers crossed it's not just one ticket per person, which seems likely :D
My brother says the queue is 'pretty big'.
for a while now.
tickets are no longer on sale at 2pm - it's 7pm.
strictly1 ticket per person.
ticket cost is £10.
poor bastard is gonna stand in the rain and freezing cold for about 6 1/2 hours on the offchance of getting in and watching the show on his own. but he will probably see prince...
gonna go up and join him in an hour I think. not a queue jumper by nature so a bit apprehensive about the whole thing. hopefully i don't get called out.
some might even say "oi!"
gave me a fit. i dont think i like the vines any more.
why is she cancelling her holiday that starts on friday?
and what is 'faking ill'?
good old gigwise:
' She did understand because she knows I love Prince. I've seen him over 25 times." Let's hope, for the sake of her admirably understandable friend, that Ruth manages to get in for the 26th time.
over 25 times - not the 26th time then
though I've not heard Prince do any black metal before, and Deafhaven are pretty much the personification of Black Metal.
there are at least 5 or 6 better purple metal bands you should be listening to. prince/death leppard is just hipster purple metal.
Worth me popping over for a ticket?
Unless you're gonna push in down the front I'd say don't bother. And also don't bother if you're gonna push in down the front cos my brother's been there for 4 hours now and he seems to be getting a bit tetchy about people pushing in...
Pretty jealous right now.
wherever he plays next.
and didn't get in. 'First set' sold out at about 8.20 and second set starts at 11pm. Had no idea it was being split into 2 short sets. Also the queue system completely collapsed about 7.30 and everyone just ran forward creating a queue about 10 people wide surging into a barriered bottleneck. On top of which loads of people just jumped the queue after the collapse. So I left the queue. I wasnt gonna wait another 2 and a half hours for a 1 hour set. Feel like a mug having gone through all that. Oh there's something apparently happening as an aftershow. Possibly Ronnie Scotts.
So sorry to hear that, I'd be livid if that happened
I was in maybe the top 500 or so (but with lots of people jumping in on the road side), then someone moved the barriers and it all kicked off!
Sorry to hear about that :(
could've done with an actual Prince song in place of Audioslave's 'Cochise'
It was VERY similar. Brilliant show. Would've loved to have stuck around for set no. 2
Let's Go Crazy
She's Always in My Hair
I Could Never Take the Place of Your Man
Something in the Water (Does Not Compute)
Crimson & Clover
Cause and Effect
Play That Funky Music
When Doves Cry
Sign “☮” the Times
Nasty Girl (instrumental)
I Would Die 4 U
Pop Life instrumental
A Love Bizarre instrumental
Did he morph that last chunk of hits into a medley like with the 3121 shows? Remember being disappointed at not getting the full version of those.
I say sampler, it might have been a laptop or an mp3 player.
that thinks that's an utterly shit set list?
Is it on a twitter account or something? Think I might ask work for a transfer to London for a few weeks.
the rest I've just scalped from Twitter.
went to Tottenham apparently
a wee bit pissed off that we got that first set, only for the later show to get that. He kept saying during the encores 'oh there's friends outside, shall we let them in?'. Like, actually, fuck off Prince and just play I would die 4 u.
Still, he was incredible and I'd love to see him do the full works.
Really enjoyed the set we got, but still feel a bit short-changed that the johnny-come-latelies got a far longer show.
in the encore he only played the first verses of those songs at the end of the set
that's what he did during the 3121 shows, so close to being satisfying yet so far. How can 12 seconds of When Doves Cry be enough!?
"No dates or ticket info as yet!"
Tonight at Ronnie Scott's is:
SOLD OUT - Billy Cobham: SPECTRUM 40
Late Late Show
Tim Thornton Quartet
Kai's Live & Let Jive! (£7 on the door)
Coincidence ? Conspiracy ?
plus his gear has been loaded in apparently
plus ronnies latest tweet is a bit of a giveaway
Poor Tim Thornton
Who to believe?
shit cyberfunk detectives.
i went there
My sources have been dealt with. that's all i'm saying.
Journo boy said Shepherd Bush Empire tonight, too. Guess that's nonsense as well...but YOU NEVER KNOW
what does Journo Boy think is coming next?
When walking towards the toilet, try singing along to the verse of popular Prince song "Diamonds And Pearls" replacing the lyrics with
Gonna take a shit
Gonna take a shit
Gonna take a real... big shit
This thing where Kevin Smith discusses his Prince documentary is actually pretty good (half hour, but worth it)
my colleague was like nah
"Please yes sir, what is your name please?"
"My name is Prince. And I am funky."
"Thank you verymuchsir, 20 minutes"
Would you be a happy boy or a girl?
Tikka the Place of Your Man
Not had access to Twitter today
Rowans Bowling Lanes tomorrow night.
Chicken Wings and Coors lite.
Trying to work out what time to start queuing.
Comparing it to the Electric Ballroom shows:
Double capacity (2000 / 1000)
Doubt they'd have a Sunday live music licence to do two shows, so all in one.
It's a weekend, people can queue for longer
No-one likes west London
Announced on the radio as opposed to rumoured till the last minute
Give me information people
Take booze and sandwiches.
"There's some booze and sandwiches to make it worth your while if you do, capiche?"
I could probably be at SBE by 3pm... that's going to be too late isn't it :(
in a bid to keep the numbers down?
The queue was about 5m shy of the Post Office
I think that was just people in the queue saying how much they were prepared to pay
quite glad I didn't take a gamble on travelling down now
Just £10 last time and it goes against everything he said in that press conference.
Bit of a farce, all this.
You can still get in if you join the queue now too
that it was to filter out all the casuals and leave all the die hard loyal fans behind
pretty much said as much on stage. Even had £70 printed on the ticket.
About 1400 ahead of us. Security said we would get in no problem. They're writing numbers on everybody's hands.
or did you just chance it?
They said I'd be fine
The solo piano triplet of The Beautiful Ones, Diamonds and Pearls then
Purple Rain was just fucking phenomenal
2 mates went. One stuck about in spite of the £70 thing and got in for a tenner, another who had been there a good hour or two longer came home because couldn't afford £70. Wouldn't expect anything less illogical/mental from Prince but seems a bit harsh on a lot of fans.
Anyway, I'll go back to just crying that I couldn't be bothered standing in the cold for 5 hours.
was in 20 minutes later
did everyone just expect it to be mental so didn't bother? (plus the £70 thing)
It was not long after that the £70 thing got posted. I think once that was discovered and the photos of the size of the queue at that point a lot of people just gave up. Thing was, there were only about 500 people in the queue at 15:00 and even at 18:30 it had only gotten up to 1000, half the capacity of the venue. No idea what happened with the ticket pricing but suspect it was down to Prince preferring 1000 people who would be willing to pay £70 but being happy they didn't have to over a capacity crowd of anyone who fancied a jolly.
The crowd were cheering and shrieking to a deafening volume, in that sense it paid off.
most people his size (heh heh) would charge at least that for a stadium gig. Don't think it is outrageous, I think it was more just bad taste when people went there thinking it was a tenner and had queued for ages.
Could they not have just wristbanded those in the queue? And had one guy telling people to leave once it got to capacity. I don't think people fancying a jolly would have queued for hours so first come first served is plenty good enough a method of weeding out.
The main crux of the matter is that these impromtu things are by nature a bit unfair so can't really complain, and I'm just jealous/annoyed I was hungover and lazy.
They didn't wristband people, but they did write numbers on people's hands that made it clear what the capacity was, I was 1316 even though I walked in after the set had begun.
Absolutely astonished that this didn't sell out, even with people thinking tickets were £70 for a while. Just hoping that the next one falls on a night I can make it to London
Someone on a Prince forum snooped on a convo with his manager and looks like the next gig may be Thursday. pinch of salt etc.
I used to live less than 5 mins from the Empire and could have walked into a 2.5 hour Prince set for a tenner?
in the summer now rumoured? seems a bit anti what he's been trying to do with these little shows.
was always doing the small shows to promote the bigger shows.
...and hasn't tried to get along to any of these shows.
on facebook suggests he's doing a gig at the weekend outside of London but in a big city up North. anyone else hear 'owt'??
and that i manage to get in
What's the story?
#princewatch #princeUKtour @3RDEYEGIRL
I wonder where. Brixton Academy pls.
But these all are:
if there was a secret show tonight with a setlist comprised of his sexy ballads for valentine's day? most beautiful girl in the world, do me baby, adore etc
Ronnie's on Monday. Apparently.
Manchester next week.
But yeah, Manchester on fri and sat, Albert Hall is available
and the guy who runs the place just shared a Manchester Confidential article suggesting it was a possibility :D
Was thinking of chancing the KOKO one, but nae for that amount.
'Tickets were confirmed to cost £70 but unlike at Shepherds Bush Empire days earlier (February 9), the price did not drop to £10 when doors opened at 9pm'
this refers to last nights kings show. hmm. that's annoying
was a really surreal night generally. shame not to hear any of the songs we wanted. ended up insulting Marcus Mumford, after seeing him lingering around earlier, we then turned around and he was behind us.
He's in the middle of three shows at Koko this evening (though it sounds like the first one wasn't that long) - £70 again.
Not much of a queue, so we joined. Let us in for free around midnight. Only played two sets at Koko
2nd set was killer...
Let's go Crazy

How come u don't call me anymore
U got the look
Finish around 12.50
...and made it in for the 1.30am showing, she was over the moon and said it was a fucking amazing show. I'm very jealous i don't live in london right now.
Prince had been spotted in the Arndale today. WHAT THE FUCK
I thought it's would be a tenner. Fuck that.
I stolled up with friend at 6pm.... got in no problem tickets on the door. Originally wasn't going to pay that much but friends/even my mum encouraged me to 'live a little'. SO yeah. AMAZING!
Unbelievable night. Turned up at 6pm with no ticket and got in easily.
STUNNING setlist: http://www.setlist.fm/setlist/prince/2014/manchester-academy-manchester-england-bc5452a.html
that he's playing a tiny club in Brum (Glee Club)
but The Glee is the worst gig venue I've ever been to. It's a comedy club. Nobody wants to watch music sitting on a shit chair with your arms touching the person next to you on both sides.
Upstairs at The Institute
Hare & Hounds
just announce big shows where you can buy tickets in advance please
Birmingham NEC 15th May
Manchester Phone4U 16th May
Glasgow Hydro 22nd May
Leeds First Direct 23rd May
Announing a massive arena tour with 3-4 weeks notice???
This is going to flop so hard...
£65 is just bearable. They'll all sell out
the lowest price seats. Best seats are £125.00
so assuming the first night sells out, he may well play the 21st
They sound like they were made up for some kind of poor satire around the time that Carling started sponsoring every venue in the country.
Don't forget - they're on sale now!
got my ticket. Is the NEC 'ok'?
