on sale next Friday (10th January) for Saturday March 22nd.
£5 ticket, £2.40 fees
They sold out super quick last time. Need to get arse in gear.
me and guntrip are djing an indiepop all dayer that evening. gonna start a dub war to build the hype ting
Bit of a shit venue but worth it for a fiver. If his last 2 line ups are anything to go by it'll be a big one.
and the atmosphere was a little... odd. There seemed to be a clear divide between people wanting a gig and a rave, and in a way, I feel a lot of the crowd were less invested in the night as a result of the price.
That said, you wouldn't find a better line up than that for a fiver, and there was some glorious track selection over the night, as to be expected. Hope they get Ben UFO back to fly solo this time.
we found that the sound really varied depending on where you stood, still was incredible value for money although the venue drinks prices are less than desirable. Had a great time though and will be trying for tickets next friday. Agree on the crowd, seemed like it was building up nicely but it was pretty empty for James Holden's closing set
so I assume he'll play again.
Also, Four Tet said something about the line up being so big that they'd need Wembley to fit everyone in if they released it in advance. He's an excitable one, but I reckon Thom Yorke will DJ, and the world will keep turning.
Is there much guitar orientated stuff?
But it's more than likely to be electronic/dance music throughout.
expect an eclectic mix of dance music, with a few surprises along the way. guess you can get a fair idea by listening to one of Four Tet's recent mixes and seeing if you enjoy it.
tickets went on sale this morning
but just for you:
doesn't seem to be on sale for me though, guessing that the presales are sold out already
the lower link still works for me, it goes straight to the ticketweb page, where you can add up to 4 tickets?
on another browser and you're right - can't be accessed.
if you have a o2 priority account - you can still go through the o2 website to get tickets.
Cheers infinity/mum for being on O2 and me knowing her log-in details.
but I have a family wedding that day which I'm not sure I can duck out of :(
Maybe I could leave after dinner?.....
Has he said when they'll release the lineup? Reckon it'll be the same crowd as usual?
6 other DJs. He also said something like it'll break the internet when he releases it :)
As I said up there, reckon Thom Yorke will probably DJ, but I could nae be fussed about that.
Apart from his obviously decent taste in music, it's not much different from the Paris Hilton DJ sets.
His attempts at mixing are laughable. He does try to do it with vinyl though rather than just lining up waveforms in serato so I won't be too harsh on him.
and if he can't do it, stick to serato. Still, that BR was probably slightly less cringe than Sigur Ros' iPad set.
but he was trying to mix together totally innapropriate tracks. I suppose this is what happens when you spend 20 years in a band that doesn't have a drummer.
Jay Daniel's been getting the big up from Four Tet, dunno if they'd fly him in though...
he'd be ace tho
Who wants to be my wing wo/man?
Papa M, Animal Collective, Caribou (Manitoba) Matthew Dear and Explosions In Sky. I don't think that was a fiver though.
I'm going to be at work late which means I'm gonna have to rely on 3g to get some tickets.
It's okay, I should be alright. Gonna get three for mates who MIGHT be coming bit probably won't end up coming. Flaky.
good luck bd
my GFs mate is coming with us so will probably head back to hers. Will deffo have to have a beer/boogy though :D
not sure if I can make it that night, if not I'll offer them up on here
am in a queue on see tickets fingers crossed
see and ticketweb all sold out :(
keep trying.. sometimes they crop back up after peoples 15mins time out
hip hip hoooray!
That'll do nicely.
Cracking line up, but not the sort of thing that doesn't happen a couple pf times a year for a bit more monies so I'm not too gutted. That Tiesto set that would break the internet never materialised.
Please could you let me know? I managed to get 4 on the day (max I could get) but there's 5 of us. We could all share the cost of one I suppose if it's £30 or whatever but would prefer to find one not from a tout!
I would love to take it off your hands. A mate is coming over from Germany that weekend now and wants to come too so if you've got an extra ticket give me a shout. Please and thank you.
I now can't make it so have 2 tickets to sell. I paid £80 for the pair (!!) so would be looking to recoup as much of that money as possible (I've come to terms with the fact that I'm probably not going to make all of that up).
Will listen to offers, so if you're interested, get in touch.
I'm a doughnut.
this place / twitter / everywhere is gonna be inundated with people's unwanted £5 spares. it happened last time. i know i'll probably have one.
the line up is mainly acts who play in London fairly regularly anyway.
paid a fiver, i imagine loads of people will have similar things come up. Sorry guy ^ you've been done there
Anyone for drinks on Saturday somewhere in Brixton?
were off down to london pretty early to gallaries n shit then will need to drop our stuff off at my mates. what happens then i have no control over.. will keep you posted though.
Fuck. You're gonna be so tired come 4am.
But yeah, cool. You've got my number. Gimme a shout if you're around, there's some very good pubs in Brixton (Craft Beer Co and the Crown and Anchor).
when I know whats goign on
trying not to be a drunken wreck before I actually even enter the venue. Will see what happens on the day and drop you a line.
It's an actual ticket and I can meet you either on the night outside or somewhere in SE London somewhen this week. PM me.
Just trying to confirm with him, will let you know ASAP.
to everyone: this has now gone. Cheers.
have read/heard varying reports as to how it was/will be, intrigued as to how a "club night" at Brixton Academy might turn out.
In summary, it wasn't perfect. But it was very good fun/value for a fiver. That said, you'd be absolutely mental to whack £40 on a ticket, like our pal Pioneer did.
It's in no way a night to go to expecting to hear tunes in amazing quality in a small dark room and be surrounded by people who only want to dance.
In short: It was a lot of fun, and I'm looking forward to going again.
Pints of Tuborg were around £5 a go though, so I ended up spending £40+ in the venue on drinks. #lad
any other drinks available?
without being paralytic
im aiming for 30% paralysis
I'm thinking hip flask times.
fyi everyone in this thread without a ticket
A mate has pulled out so I've now got 1 spare ticket, message me if you're interested. Will be around Brixton/the academy beforehand.
i'm looking for one so please get in touch.
10pm Joy Orbison
12:30am Floating Points
1:30am Four Tet (Official)
3.30am Hessle Audio - Ben UFO, Pearson Sound, Pangaea
Not going to be able to be there until gone midnight probably, so I'm sad to be missing Joy and Daphni :(((
or maybe it's to get people in early idk
Can't wait for that Hessle set though.
or one if it's going. If you PM me I should get it straight away on email and will arrange meet up on Saturday...
message me if you're interested. Face value (plus booking fee of course ;))
*SO* much better than last year - every set was amazing, sound was surprisingly good, so glad the new Floating Points got two outings - and the Four Tet 'Burn' remix!
The Hessle crew made my evening/morning - Pulse vs Flex, Wooo-Glut... CLK Recovery, probably the best track ever?
Currently sitting at Waterloo with a flat white waiting for my train wishing I did drugs so I wasn't so fucking tired. Not sure how I lasted till 6 tbh. Sorry I didn't get a chance to say hello to any DiSers (other than Wiggy very briefly)!
Spent about half of it queuing, but it was worth it for the other half grooving! Four Tet absolutely nailed it, Floating Points set the mood nicely, and was enjoying Hessle before we left around 4.30. Sad to miss CLK though - don't think I've heard that played out before.
Crowd was a bit aggro and pushy down in the main dancefloor bit, so we ended up moving to the sides and up onto the little semi-balcony bits where there was loads of room to dance :D
Plenty of room, easy to find people, the back left bar was quite easy to get served at too.
I'm still so fucking tired. Also just realised that maybe the Lil Silva track was Night Skanker not Pulse vs. Flex, maybe not, I have it stuck in my head now anyway.
Oh yeah - and Four Tet played Heartbreaker...
sorry badman didn't have my phone on me and was out on the piss all day so didn't see your tweet until sunday. i was leathered and in no state to be seen though so (y)
four tet's set was so fun (heartbroken singalong s noodling
hessle were the ones though. fucking clk recovery sounded so heavy. and this tune early on in their set was a big highlight for me http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TTtAm3yLxuU
(heartbroken singalong was amazing and skeng into ghetto kyote was the perfect rave sorbet after floaty p's noodling)*
Skeng into Ghetto Kyote... just wtf! I was in the toilets when Skeng started and just burst out laughing, pretty much the last thing I ever expected.
we were all still going mad for skeng when the ghetto kyote drums came in, my mate had just come back from the bar and basically threw the drinks everywhere and cartwheeled over screaming GHETTOOOOoo KYOTEEEEe. such a happy time
nothing really compares to seeing an absolutely heaving crowd of people go mad to tunes as weird as that
with a similar sound/vibe? enjoyed myself immensely on saturday, particularly the hessle audio lot
but guessing it was T2
I've heard him play this before. Class.
I actually got mine in the O2 presale on Wednesday but seems like a few people I know got them on Dice.
A *lot* of dickheads getting angry on Twitter today and basically accusing him of selling them directly to touts. People are cunts, dunno why he bothers being nice to people.
I was on ticketweb at 10.00 but was apparently already sold out and available at re-sale for £49, so it must have been tout bots. Obviously nothing he can do about it, but can't believe the ticketing agencies haven't got their act together yet to stop this kind of shit happening.
It's apparently an indication of entrepreneurial spirit according to the govt...depressing stuff.
They specifically put aside tickets to give to the secondary market for their cut or in some cases like [redacted] selling secondary direct
About it. Almost don't mind the disgraces shouting outside the tube station, at least they're out doing something. When I think about how many great shows I got to see at 16, the price rises courtesy of these cunts would mean so much of it would be out of my reach.
Music is one of the few things that instills a bit of national pride in me and we're trying to strangle it for the sake of a bit more profit to fucking ticket master.
Or some sort of anti-bot implementation anyway. Got my 4 thanks to the super fast internet at work. Didn't bother using dice because it seems everyone was, wanting to up my chances and all.
basically been the same for the last 3 tbh. maybe he'll invite someone shit like jamie xx this year.
didn't really enjoy last year tbh, think the novelty has worn off, will try and get tickets for the saturday this year cos fuck it, it's a fiver, but won't be too bothered if i miss out.
