I;m assuming this is meant to be funny?
dunno why you'd think that?
it's terribly, terribly serious
I'm confused because it seems to read as though it were a humouros peice
except there's nothing remotely funny in there and very little even approaching what could be classified as an attempt at a joke
congratulations on not getting a joke
OH!
I get jokes, haaa
To be fair this one made chuckle
Band influenced by nothing but My Bloody Valentine who weren't born when Kevin Shields started making his "new" record. In other words, they have grown bones, developed kidneys, exited a birth canal, learned to walk, read, and defecate independently, mastered their instruments and figured out the philosophical mechanics of insouciant cool all in the time it has taken Kev to turn on his FX pedals.
I lol'd at that one and...
'Electronic band feted by the Quietus that Arcade Fire wish they were now that they’ve finally realised guitars haven’t been cool in six years'
This is very perceptive by Vice standards;
"23 - 20: Albums by known and respected acts that you didn't even know had been released because of the deluge of decent new records the modern world is constantly spewing out and the desperate thirst for novelty with which it burns through them before discarding them forever"
Didn't they do this joke last year?
it wasn't even funny then
They do it every year.
It's still funny.
they should stop
no it isn't
Never very funny
always damn accurate though.
so, more sad then?
Things like this always leave me thinking
that popular music could do with some big international crisis, like a WW2 or a 9-11, in order to wipe the slate clean and start afresh.
The Daft Punk entry sounds more like the mantra for MGMT's latest
"No really guys, it gets better on repeated listens!"
fuck off, we're already familiar with Flaming Lips and Animal Collective.
not as good as it could have been
but these are always worth reading just because of the potential.
Is 38 meant to be Kitty?
Did she even release an album this year?
Whatever you might say about the rest of the list, No.1 is bang on the money
