who else is going?
The Computers are supporting, so make sure to get down early.
Computers at 7
RFTC at 8
are the tickets like than £35 or whatever the fuck it is yet
jesus, I don't envy you guys, £30+ for weekend Londoners to chat and wait for On a Rope...
also HI ROSS SEE YOU DOWN THE FRONT yeaaaaaah
There's no way RFTC have enough dedicated fans to fill the Koko, and basically any "larger" gig at the weekend in London is always filled with drunk idiots going out because they can. Take Queens of the Stone Age a couple weeks ago.
Obviously I hope I'm wrong and you guys have a great night, but I'm cynical from having being disappointed by this kind of thing countless times
which is still steep, but whatever
and london is full of silly 50s greaser guys
and an arena show for a big mainstream rock band and a 1500 cap theatre show that sold out quickly by a cult band who last played london about a decade ago are completely different
and even if that is a bad example, I've been to loads of similar gigs at Koko or Shepards' Bush Empire or Brixton Academy or whatever and found the same thing.
Also it didn't sell out quickly, there was tickets still a couple weeks ago, I remember having the above thought process
ultimately I don't think enough people ever gave much of a shit about RFTC to attract too much of that sort of crowd, they were never really that popular (aside from on hit single 17 years ago) and are pretty much off the radar now anyway
that's enough for some bands to reform/people to go see them
anyway yeah, I didn't mean to put a dampener on it, I hope it's a good show and you all enjoy it, I'm just weary of what those kind of shows are often like.
but my point stands
I also genuinely don't know anyone that doesn't like them.
You could be right, it probably will be filled with drunken idiots, but you could say that about ANY gig though.
Also, they've got hundreds of better songs than On A Rope ;)
but that's all the idiots are after. THE IDIOTS ARE WINNING, IDIOTS.
RFTC are, in the best sense, completely two dimensional. it's not like the people who want to hear On A Rope will hate the rest of the set is it? hardly going to a Lou Reed show and shouting for Walk On The Wild Side and getting sad as hell at all the noise
that's often the frustrating thing, just a lot of people at these gigs simply stop paying attention and start chatting/taking selfies/pushing people to and from the bar to get loaded on a £5 can of red stripe or whatever the fuck it is these days
will dm you my friend's email address, she's looking
Gonna get down there early (curfew is at 10 for the club night, so everything's pulled forward).
Commercial retro r'n'r is a very, very hard genre to not suck at. It's something of a miracle how little edge RFTC lost when they went major label.
And they've got a seemingly non-ironic song called Disco Sucks, we should have a zero tolerance approach to that shit.
proper tunes/slick back hair/suits etc.
Hearing I Know, Panic Scam and Made For You in the second half made my night and Dick On A Dog/Glazed finale was top stuff.
So pleased they played My Arrow's Aim.
Fucking brilliant band.
love that song
