This is the worst fucking thing I could hear right now.
And come back in a few years with a belter. I barely believe any band is breaking up these days, especially when they explicitly say they aren't fully doing so.
It seems like no band ever stays dead, unless they're The Smiths. The Walkmen will be back. But there's always that aching feeling that a band won't come back.
I mean, technically, Fugazi are still "on hiatus", after all.
I just feel optimistic about The Walkmen reuniting, and somehow think it's maybe good timing for a break for them. As much as Heaven is a good album, it's maybe my least favourite of theirs.
Fingers crossed, anyway.
amazing live. Their Village Underground gig last year will be remembered for ages by those that went; simply stunning.
I've only got Lisbon, it's really good.
What should I get next?
which is only really mediocre by their own very high standards.
However, I imagine a band operating at their level, with that many band members may need to take a year or so to get their mortgages paid and all that kinda thing. Meanwhile, keep on streaming band's music and seeing them at festivals instead of their headline shows...
Quite a lot of people buy their albums and go to their shows, I think you'll find, and what's to say that festivals aren't the best way of broadening their fanbase anyway?
6/10 for effort
STOP POSTING ON MUSIC FORUMS RECOMMENDING MUSIC TO BUY, GOD!
happens to a lot of bands, a few years to take stock and perusue other projects and they'll be back
Is a pretty good way to depart :)
After sleeping on them for years, their performance at Bestival convinced me they are one of the best "indie-rock" bands out there.
I'm sure they'll be back.
to write another good song.
Royter's Music Forum Bants deserves it's own twitter
Music Boarders don't get as insanely cross on New DiS though.
you used to be able to summon this kind of comment with almost zero effort:
you can achieve greatness once again, I believe in you
but I can't find it.
Heaven was quite a nice mature winding down kind of album, not really sure where they could have gone from there.
Still getting into You & Me a huge amount and then seeing them 5 or 6 times the following year was really great. Best album and always great live.
I can live with waiting another 4 or 5 years to see them
Just ignore this stuff, it only encourages them.
Was listening to Lisbon yesterday and Heaven this morning thinking I was a bit wrong about the latter not being a patch on the former.
Hope it's not forever. Seems to me like they produce a style of music that would be quite easy to pick up again in the future and that they would not suffer for being a few years older & wiser.
WHAT A BAND
Really hope they come back one day.
