but it came through as an 'invalid file' and now I can't reach a download thing at all. Here are the links anyway.
Don't want to get too excited on a first listen, but at least sounds better than NLDW to me :)
and it's like no-one I knew cared. Gonna give it a listen on the way to work. Let's hope they start turning up to gigs now.
Waay better than NLDW. Their least abrasive record yet, but works surprisingly well.
But yeah, much more immediate and energetic than NLDW. That combo of Big House and the title track - damn.
So yeah, words on it and that. http://endlesswindow.blogspot.co.uk/2013/11/death-grips-government-plates.html
after like 5 listens. im yet to really get the lyrics but in terms of sound its perfect. first time theyve ever managed to capture what makes them great live with the crazy drumming. i was speechless when i first heard birds back in august and it fits so nicely into the album.
also in like the already ridiculous schedule of releases this year i totally didnt even factor in the possibility of a new death grips record. so they have the element of surprise down which doesnt really happen these days.
but i'm pretty bored by the whole thing now, as excited as i was about them a couple of years ago - i don't really need or want 50 deathgrips tracks over 3 years, it's too much for me. I thought that NO LOVE DEEP WEB was a bit same/same really (to be fair i've hardly listened to it, just didn't grab me much), and their constant publicity stunts have just become irritating.
Same kinda of violent creativeness as Money Store, nothing as accessible as Hacker/I've Seen Footage though, but songs like Birds are a really cool evolution of their sound
Should appeal to Death Grips fans, free on their bandcamp:
They got picked up by Sub Pop on the back of this (their second rap signing after Shabazz Palaces), so it'll be interesting to see where they go from here. Hoping there'll be a proper follow up in 2014. A mate was impressed with the live set too - intense laptop noise performance vs MC kind of deal. Want to catch them soon.
