Good article here:
I am pretty excited to read this, some great writers on board too.
I mean, even by Ian Cohen's standards that's fucking ridiculous
maybe try the rest of it if you don't like him.
about Love Below being the better-known of the two sides.
I'm completely with him when he suggests that at the time Speakerboxxx was undervalued (in a lot of the popular press and in public's reaction, at least). I also agree with him that Love Below probably was incorrectly viewed as the more ambitious/adventurous album (although neither that innovative, more just perfecting/polishing styles they'd pushed on previous records).
But the article comes across as if Ian Cohen has decided the best way to rectify this perceived imbalance in popular opinion is to completely slag off LB. Which is ridiculous - they're both really good. At the time I preferred Love Below, now much prefer Speakerboxxx - but to describe the former as unlistenable is either absurd or incredible trolling.
To say Where Are My Panties is the second best song on an album that has Happy Valentine's Day, Prototype and Roses is just taking the piss.
