Is it supposed to be a joke? I haven't seen anyone else talking about it, and I'm really confused by it.
working men's club queens of the stone age thing for years now they haven't they? i feel only including the last three singles in this bracket is overly generous.
And I find this record, much like the last, wholly pleasant enough when I put it on, but I couldn't really tell you any of the song titles or why it's so revolutionary; yet Steve Lamacq was on 6music the other day saying it's a total pioneering LP like nothing he'd ever heard before, combining motown and rock.
But the three singles all seem to have the same chord progression and basically the same tune, tone and style, just at different tempos. It's really weird.
You can't take anything he says seriously at all.
I do really like AM btw fwiw. it's my favourite of their albums since the debut, So I only really like two Arctic Monkeys albums.
But yeah, Steve Lamacq - has to say some improbably positive things about wholly undeserving bands as a day job.
It's my least favourite of theirs by some distance. Suck It And See was ace.
To clarify, it's R U Mine, Do I Wanna Know and Why'd You Only Call Me When You're High.
Listen to them in a row. It's got to be intentional. They're basically the same song.
Not as great an album as it's been made out to be. It starts off well but track 3 pretty much kills it for me until things pick up again with Why'd You Only... From there on, it's all fucking brilliant.
I don't know what to tell you...
there's a fourth track on that album that basically uses the same chords too. I like the record, but it's not my favourite one of theirs on account of this...
why their last three singles all ask questions?
It bothers me greatly
doesn't bother me. adore AM.
Completely lacking in the charm, wit & memorable tunes of their other albums. Really don't get the almost universal acclaim it's getting.
it's true. i'd imagine it's on purpose, like a theme. same key as well
who cares? Listen to something else.
