Debuts usually win
back when she was still 9-1, she now seems to be being touted as the bookies' favourite. Great odds I thought, she seems the sort of artist the Mercury judges love.
She'd deserve it and it would stop Jon Hopkins being spoiled by a Mercury (as if that would happen)...
Of course it won't happen, but hypothetically it'd be great
Absolutely consistent in quality from start to end. Broad enough appeal to bring more people into electronic music.
Well, in my opinion anyway. I do think it does have an effect in some cases.
Most Mercury winners are debuts, which is why there's such a mix of career trajectories after winning it.
Have you heard Insides? It's also very good, though I can see why it didn't get the reception Immunity did. It isn't quite as good front-to-back. Is very goo as an extension of his work though...up until now all I could do was devour Immunity.
