The Radio Dept
A very lovable band indeed. Need to dig an album out soon.
I heard Cemetry Gates again last week, and thought "fuck me, The Smiths are incredible! How does it even occur to someone to write lyrics like this?" as thought that thought had never crossed my mind before.
mainly though I think it happens with the more 'alt-rock' / grungier stuff I was mad about as a teenager -- Pixies, Dinosaur Jr., Pumpkins, etc.
Remembered how great Gold Soundz is when my 15 year old cousin sent me it on facebook, having just discovered it for the first time. I kind of wish I could have that sensation again for myself.
I have to be in a certain mood for them, but I generally binge once I do start relistening.
sloan, lilys, the move
but the genre of reggae. Everthing from its early days to around 1984ish is all good for me, I immerse myself in it for a few days then forget about it for ages. It is a little samey after a while to be fair.
Every time I dig them up anew, I have a beautiful couple of weeks listening to them constantly.
I can binge on them for about a week or two of the year, then have no desire to listen to them again for the rest of it. Never quite cracked Exai though, so might have to give that another go in a weekend or two...
Every so often I need a fix of blues power, awww yeeeeah!
so MANY great songs - what's your favourite?
