Bo Ningen at The Scala
Did anyone go?
N'Shukugawa Boys were phenomenal! Unfortunately due to late arriving friends I only caught half of the set but I loved it. If I hadn't had tickets to something else on Wednesday I would have loved to go to the Japan Underground show they played. Hopefully they can bring them back in the next year or so, I really want to see them again.
Telegram were the single dullest band I've seen this year. I have no idea what they were doing there. Threatened to sap all my miniscule energy reserves.
It was strange seeing Bo Ningen up on a 'proper' stage but they were fantastic as ever. The encore song was blistering. Really tight set, a few sound issues maybe but nothing that derailed it. That was my fifth time seeing them and they never disappoint.
There were a lot of middle aged boring men there though. Were Bo Ningen featured in Uncut magazine this month or something? Me and my girlfriend were totally stuck behind these two immovable old fucks, who looked like the Mitchell Brothers doing a spot-on impression of no fun at all, for most of the set, despite them standing dead centre of the dance floor. Eventually just squeezed past them and in to the slightly more fun bit at the front, but it was curiously muted considering how nuts the band go. Maybe they're just better suited to sweaty bunkers and dirty pub venues?
