it's fucking crap. Great stuff... but really
Particularly after Satan's Alley.
I like that album (and almost all Enigma albums).
@OP: No need to be a snob and claim that it's fucking crap. You get great songs, nice mix of Gregorian chants with electronic music, obscure lyrics, NICE melodies and voices. What's not to like?
Certainly it's much more enjoyable (and better) than a lot of indie bedwetter music. I'd rather listen to something catchy and good than to something non-melodic and boring like hell...
and I was really, really drunk. Like, I'd just stumbled in after a pub crawl, put the first album on the turntable and was eating pie.
I grew up with the first 2 enigma albums as they were quite possibly the only 2 albums i actually remember my parents buying in the 90s when they just completely stopped taking much interest in music. So yeah, i love them. I thought people generally hated enigma cos it's 'new age' or whatever but i can't imagine an album like this selling so many copies today.
Still sounds great: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FfRAiTtOVEY
A friend used to play this a lot back in the early 90`s whilst we`d have a smoke so I`ve got a bit of a soft spot for it.
At first the only people buying it were local DJs, then a week or so later it was 30-something couples. I didn't mind it at first but the shop manager kept playing it 3-4 times a day & so a month later I fucking hated it.
is one of the finest pop singles of the 90's
Genius song. I still like it, even if I've heard it many times in my life (on radio/TV).
