"We've written 40 songs for this album" then 10 or so appear on the next one.
that kinda "look at us being eclectic" nonsense
Like they don't depend on those who buy their albums/singles/merchandise and/or go and see them live.
said by band/solo artist with a team of writers.
"We wanted to start over and forget everything we've done before"
"We're relearning our instruments"
"In essence, In Love, is an upchuck of shoegaze and Britpop with a bit of Foals’ assured unit selling math rock thrown in for good measure." HERE TO GIVE THE UK MUSIC SCENE A GOOD SHOEGAZING, MATHY BRITPOP KICK UO THE ARSE.
"We hated the production on the first record."
I hate when bands dismiss their previous work. If you think that your previous albums are bad, why did you make them in the first place?
because they seemed like a good idea at the time but, with hindsight, you can sees the flaws more clearly.
That said, I also don't like it when bands do this
Or other equally pointless interview responses.....everyone does this!
yet our album still sounds like Cast
in dead-end towns with dead-end jobs"
Ooh, this band sounds just like Ocean Colour Scene. Boss, I quit!
Often heard in interviews back in the late 80s, think the Soup Dragons were first.
As in, they let the drummer sing. Once.
"X (eg Dave Gahan, Liam Gallagher) has contributed more songs to this album than ever before". Eg, main songwriter has completely lost his mojo, so we have to fill up the album with even shittier songs written by the singer.
...Gahan' songs (Secret to the End, Broken, Should Be Higher) are very good. Definitely better than few Gore' songs like Heaven, The Child Inside and Goodbye.
Also on PTA, Gahan' songs (I Want It All, Suffer Well, Nothing's Impossible) are all good.
The only mistake was on Sounds of the Universe: Hole to Feed & Miles Away/The Truth Is = bad, Come Back = better.
Gore's forgotten how to write decent songs, hence Dave's greater involvement
i.e. 1 song on the album sounds a bit like the old stuff and the rest are the same old turd.
As if that implicitly makes it better. Fuck off.
but it's also fucking hilarious
and doesn't say loads.
Let me really express myself musically.
