So, there is that then
they've had the work of a lifetime tainted
After about the age of 15 I didn't give a stuff about them, but they were obviously a hardworking and successful band, who've been destroyed and tainted by the Ian Watkin's possible actions. Must be gutting to see all you've done suddenly overshadowed.
Not because I think it'll be good, just so everyone will stop associating them with paedos.
Last time I suggested they might not be able to look back so fondly on their careers now, someone on here messed themselves.
I said "You never know". He didn't take it well.
I still listen to Gary Glitter's Rock'n'Roll Christmas as it's an ace song.
If it had been the drummer or bassist I think people would be able to separate the alleged crimes from the music more easily, but the singer is the face and literally the voice of the band, so the association is much stronger
no more will rock club patrons be able to belt out awful versions of 'last train home' at 4am without feeling a bit uncomfortable about the whole thing
whole thing is just mental.
I can't fathom how surreal it is.
irrespective of their take on the band, is a heartless individual.
Yeah - one of the first bands I got into. I don't feel any special fondness towards them, having moved on years ago but every time I think of all this it just strikes me as so sad.
Weird though it may be: Watkins is the one I pity most. From a manageable amount of celebrity/dream job to his life completely destroyed. Of course, his own actions may have brought it on but just imagine how long his evenings are.
I bet he hasn't got a friend in the world.
without for one minute condoning any of the alleged actions.

horrific crimes, obviously, but i don't believe in evil so i can definitely empathise with him as a human being. His life is over, he'll never be accepted back into society, really, and it must be unthinkable to be faced with a future like that.
yes it's unspeakably wrong, no one is saying that's up for debate. but even dealing with having those impulses must be tough, living with yourself when you've actually acted on them? you'd kill yourself.
at this point if these accusations turned out to be false. Unless there has been a change of circumstance recently with the plea
that even other paedos think he's a paedo
it seems to be ages ago it all came out
He's not, as far as I understand. Why must journalists lie and make me instinctively side with a baby rape conspirator? WHY?!
"Watkins appeared in a plea hearing at Cardiff Crown Court in June when he denied a total of 24 separate sex offences.
Among them are two counts of raping a baby, one of conspiracy to rape a child and one of conspiracy to sexually assault a child."
"He also denies charges of sexually assaulting a baby and aiding and abetting a woman to sexually assault a baby."
I don't think it's one of the things he was initially charged with. Either that or I'm just completely misremembering.
Initial reports were that he'd been charged with conspiring to rape a baby. Then it got worse.
It initially said that he conspired to sexually touch a 13 year old, and when NME reported the next day that it was a 1 year old, I thought they'd made a typo.
There's no shortage of people who would be qualified for the job, Frank from Gallows, Ross (is that right?) from Symposium/Hell Is For Heroes, Casey Chaos ex of Amen, even Craig B formerly of Aereogramme would have been an interesting addition.
But they'll change their name because of the association.
:'D so wrong!
